Jimmy freaks out when he starts getting erections and plans to get rid of them before he has to perform stand-up at the school's talent show.
- Action Survivor: The hapless biker who finds himself embedded in Nut Gobbler's crotch, and caught up in a gunfight, is shown to have survived the ordeal.
- Call-Back: Like last season, Butters has the opportunity to perform in front of a crowd. Rather than kicking off another horrific tragedy at a school assembly, Butters loses his nerve and runs offstage crying before he can begin.
- Children Are Innocent: When Butters is explaining to Jimmy how an erection works, he says that the penis "sneezes milk".
- Earpiece Conversation: One of Jimmy's attempts to have sex with a girl, believing it will solve his erection problem, is to have Cartman tell him what to say to one in a date using this. It did not work.
- Gag Penis: During his nightmare, Jimmy's erection grows to a size very large for his proportions, scaring children.
- Groin Attack: After having a Catapult Nightmare about a random erection ruining the talent show for him, Jimmy furiously punches his penis out of frustration, only to then clutch it in agony from the pain.
- Hair-Trigger Sound Effect: A jingling of bells can be heard whenever Jimmy finds out his penis hardens.
- Hooker with a Heart of Gold: Nut Gobbler's appearance is Played for Laughs as a pretty rough-looking prostitute, as is her apparent lack of scruples about having sex with a child, though she's openly moved by Jimmy's determination to save her.
- Performance Anxiety: Butters gets hit with a strong case of stage fright as he quickly forgets his words and wets himself, which causes him to run offstage.
- Pet the Dog: Cartman tries to help Jimmy with his love life and doesn't even ask for anything in return.
- Raging Stiffie: What kicks off Jimmy's side of the plot is him trying to stop getting one on a talent show.
- "Shaggy Dog" Story: Jimmy went through all the trouble to get himself laid in hopes of preventing his unwanted erections for the talent show, only to find out that all that does not work in the end.
- Shout-Out: Cartman does an impression of Tony Montana for his act in the talent show.
- The scene where Jimmy carries Nut Gobbler to bed is lifted from An Officer and a Gentleman, complete with soundtrack. His use of comedy to get the murderous pimp to drop his guard is similar to The Last Boy Scout.
- The Unreveal: The winner of the talent show, as the episode ends on Jimmy getting another boner during his stand up routine.
