Recap / South Park S13E14 "Pee"

Go To

Original air date: 11/18/2009

A day at the water park turns into a disaster, when imbalance in the water-to-urine ratio in the park's pools causes yellow tsunamis to flood the park. Cartman believes that the rise of minorities proves that the Mayans correctly predicted the end of the world in 2012.

"Pee" contains examples of:

  • Adults Are Useless: The adults outside the water park refuse to go in, as apparently, being exposed to so much pee causes people to "change." They prove this with peeing on a monkey, causing it to understandably start screeching, before being shot dead before it can calm down.
  • Award-Bait Song: Cartman's "Minorities in My Water Park" musical number is clearly a parody of this trope.
  • Book Dumb: Cartman is horrified to find that there are more minorities at the local water park than white people and does a complex series of calculations to determine the population ratios and rate of change.
Stan: This is more math than I've ever seen you do.
    Cartman: Because this is important!
  • Does Not Like Spam: Kyle finds bananas even more disgusting than pee.
  • Exact Words: Butters tells Kyle he has to use the bathroom. When Kyle tells him to go ahead, Butters pees in the pool.
  • Giant Wall of Watery Doom: When there is all p and no H in the water, not only do all the nooks and crannies spit out pee, but monumental tsunamis are created, drowning the waterpark and the patrons.
  • Ignored Expert: The water tester warns that if one more person urinates in the pool, it could set off a chain reaction. But Pi-Pi will not shut down his waterpark. Let's say he regrets ignoring the expert after the tsunamis.
  • The Last Straw: After the Ignored Expert is dismissed, a little girl in an inner tube floats past the boys, then stops and lets loose some pee...
  • Lazy Mexican: During Cartman's minority song, he mentions that Mexicans are all around him and the lazy river has never been lazier.
  • Meaningful Background Event: Not event per se, but as the episode progresses, the water's color turns from crystal blue to swampy emerald. Then, following The Last Straw, all the water turns a bright yellow. Cue the tsunamis.
  • Negated Moment of Awesome: Since Kyle can hold his breath the longest, the others suggest for him to swim down to the submerged maintenance room to release the emergency valve, but Kyle is very disgusted by all the urine and objects to the park owner's suggestion of drinking 24 oz. of pee to make the mission easier. As soon as Kyle reluctantly drinks it and prepares to dive, police helicopters fly in to save the day, meaning it was a "Shaggy Dog" Story. Kyle gets to play Audience Surrogate:
Kyle: Are you fucking kidding me?!
  • Only Sane Man: Kyle is the only one who is disgusted by people peeing in the waterpark.
  • Persecution Flip: Cartman imagines that the minorities will make sure that white people never earn as much money and will eventually put them into camps.
  • Putting the Pee in Pool: People keep mentioning that there is so much water, one person peeing in it won't make a difference. The waterpark soon reaches critical urine mass and turns into a massive pee tsunami.
  • Save the Villain: A group of minority survivors pull Cartman from the pee and help him into their lifeboat.
  • Tempting Fate: After Kyle drank the pee, he states that the only things he finds more disgusting are bananas. He is then forced to eat a banana at gunpoint.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: Kenny's corpse is seen floating face-down in all the pee, implying he drowned.
  • Villain Song: Cartman sings his woes about minorities in the waterpark.
  • Would Hurt a Child: At the end of the episode, one of the police officers threatens to shoot Kyle if he doesn't eat a banana. In real life, the officer would be charged for shooting an unarmed child.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Kyle's reaction after learning that he drank pee for nothing.
