- Desecrating the Dead: Opie carves an A on the presumed murderer's chest to prove to the Mayans that the Sons had their revenge. Jax later shoots it off to destroy any link to the club.
- Eviler than Thou: AJ Weson seems to be disdainful of Darby, saying he has yet to deserve his supremacist tattoos.
- Frame-Up: Jax and others make it seem that it was a rogue Mayan that killed Donna, in order for Opie to get his revenge and cool off.

- Politically Incorrect Villain: The League of American Nationalists are a white supremacist group that fights against "black radicals" and boasts deep connections to the Aryan Brotherhood.
- Rape as Drama: The L.O.A.N. kindap Gemma and rape her to force Clay to agree to their terms.
- Secret-Keeper: Jax and Piney hide the fact that it was Clay that caused Donna's death from Opie to protect both him and the club.
