"Didn't we just throw you out, Mister Eggman?"

This episode's start finds Eggman in the middle of shopping at the Danger-Co Deadly Equipment Warehouse. He gets a multipack of Ion Diffusers, and he mentions he needed just one, but it is a bargain. When he gets to the checkout, the manager needs Eggman's doctorate in evil science to shop, so Eggman orders Orbot to print the transcript. However, the manager says that Eggman is two credits short of graduation, revealing that Eggman is not a doctor. Eggman leaves with Orbot and Cubot, but one of the villagers had caught word of this and decides to spread the word...in song. This starts a musical number with the many cast of characters and Team Sonic joining in.

At Meh Burger, the musical number finishes, and Eggman shows up. When he orders a double Meh Burger savage style, Dave refuses, as Eggman is laughed at with Sonic and Tails verbally burning him for not having a doctorate. Eggman is annoyed by that, but is kicked out of Meh Burger. Eggman attempts to shoot with a laser with the Eggmobile, but is countered by a Homing Attack by Sonic. Sonic then drives the point up further by calling Eggman by the name "Mister Eggman." This prompts more laughter from the crowd as he retreats.

At Eggman's lair, Eggman laments to Orbot and Cubot about how Sonic, of all people, called him "Mister" and he got thrown out of Meh Burger. Orbot suggests that Eggman goes back to school for the last two credits. Eggman says that he can take Professor Kingsford's class, mentioning that Kingsford was the most feared and respected professor of evil, and was called, as Eggman puts it, "the goat herder," as Kingsford picks one poor sap to be his goat and wail mercilessly on him for the entirety of the semester, and Eggman says that they will see who it will be this year.

The next morning, Eggman, in shock, realizes that his alarm never went off. Thus, he is late to class, and Professor Kingsford shows up, and as Eggman drops his pencil, things get more and more dramatic. Kingsford asks Eggman to recite the facts of the battle of Admiral Doom vs Captain Hero. Eggman does not know, and is thus selected to be the goat. The class laughs at Eggman.

At the beach, Sonic and his friends are bored, so another musical number plays while a montage begins; Eggman gets some paperwork back and has failed, Sonic and friends are playing soccer as Sonic scores a goal, Eggman does some chalkboard work and misses key points, Sonic and his friends are going airboarding, with Sonic driving, Eggman's project being rejected, Sonic and friends super sonic racing, and Eggman banging his head on the desk for no reason. The montage then ends as the song comes to a close.

In Dave's house, Eggman is apparently part of a study group as he and the others are talking about their projects. Dave's mother tells Dave that the pizza pockets exploded cheese all over the microwave. Eggman says that he highlighted all of the important stuff, and Willy praises Eggman. It turns out that the entire class is stealing some things for a group project, and all Eggman has to do is to steal a rubber gasket, which should be easy as long as he does not draw too much attention to himself.

Looks like Eggman spoke too soon, as he evilly laughs, and Sonic, in boredom, tells his team that they need to stop Eggman from doing his homework. Sonic knocks the gasket out of Eggman's hand, and Eggman tries to get it back, but to no avail. Sonic decides to get back to drag racing. Willy mentions that some people just aren't naturals.

Since Eggman failed to get the gasket, he caused the entire class to fail, and Kingsford says that the only hope to complete the course now is the final exam in which an A must be gotten. Eggman's reaction is what is expected as a dramatic zoom in occurs.

That night, Eggman is tormented by a nightmare, from taking the final with the gasket he failed to retrieve, to the class laughing at him, to Eggman (now sounding like a goat) being in front of a giant Sonic, with a Trix commercial being referenced. Eggman wakes up with a scream. Orbot and Cubot rush in to see what is the matter, and Eggman says that it is about the final. Eggman says that he knows that he is going to fail it, but then says that if not for his strong moral center, he'd break into the school and steal the answers, deciding to break in and steal the answers.

Eggman is dropped into the school thanks to a bladesaw from an unseen robot creating a hole and lowering him down, and he is successful in stealing the answers, although he has difficulty getting back up the hole from which he entered. The next day, Eggman takes the final exam, and when he finishes, he gives the exam to Kingsford. Kingsford then tells Eggman that he stole the answers and therefore cheated, so it seems like Eggman failed again. But, it turns out that the true final exam was to steal the answer sheet of the final exam, and thus Eggman was the only one to pass. Eggman dances out of the classroom in victory.

Eggman graduates from the class of evil, and Sonic, who was watching it, says that he cannot wait for more stuff that will soon unfold.

This episodes provides examples of:

  • All or Nothing: Thanks to Eggman's failure to steal a simple gasket, the final exam proves to be the only hope of passing the class.
  • Back to School: Eggman goes back to villain school to earn his last two credits and officially become a doctor.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The aforementioned musical number.
  • Crowd Song: The "Not a Doctor" song, sung to the tune of "Telephone Hour" from Bye Bye Birdie.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Dr. Eggman.
  • Fear Song: Inverted; the musical number talks about how the villagers no longer fear Eggman for not being a doctor.
  • Gilligan Cut: At one point, Eggman decides to steal a rubber gasket and promises that he won't draw attention to himself. Cut to the heist itself, and he's drawing attention.
  • Late for School: On his first day back to school, Eggman's alarm doesn't go off, so he ends up being late for class. This results in him being singled out as the goat by Professor Kingsford.
  • Massive Multiplayer Ensemble Number: The "Not a Doctor" song, sung to the tune of "Telephone Hour" from Bye Bye Birdie.
  • Musical Episode: After it's revealed Eggman is two credits short of graduation in his doctorate in evil science, meaning he is not a legitimate doctor, a overhearing villager decides to spread the word "in song", beginning a musical number in which the villagers (Team Sonic included) start gossiping between each other and sing about how they now see Eggman as a fraud, while casting aside notion about him being a threat and giving him the new name "Mister Eggman". The sequence includes all the usual musical tropes, such as Spontaneous Choreography, the Patter Song, the Image Song and the Crowd Song, while also inverting the Fear Song and Warning Song tropes. As soon as the song ends, Eggman, who has just arrived at Meh Burger and seeing the jolly sequence unfold, quickly bails in, confused:
Eggman: Why do you all look like you've just finished a musical number?
  • Noodle Incident: Apparently Dr. Eggman was once the head judge in a tofu cookoff. He considers it the second-worst day of his life, just behind finding out he isn't a legitimate doctor and getting roasted by the entire village.
  • Not-So-Innocent Whistle: When Eggman shows up at the end of the musical number at Meh Burger, everyone immediately returns to their seats in a haste.
  • Original Position Fallacy: Eggman is eager to see who Professor Kingsford's "goat" this year will be, not realizing that as one of his students, he's just as vulnerable to getting that position himself. Sure enough, it's Eggman who ends up being the goat.
  • Rule of Three: Dave, Tails, and Sonic verbally burn Eggman for not being a doctor.
Eggman: Can I get a double Meh Burger, savage style?
Dave: I'll get right on that - and I mean that double sarcastically, savage style.
    (Everyone laughs at Eggman)
Eggman: How dare you?! I'll destroy you all!
    Tails: You and what doctorate?
The rest of the villagers: Ooooh!
Sonic: Oh, you better write yourself a prescription for that sick burn. Oh, wait, you can't!
(Everyone laughs again as Sonic and Tails do a fist bump)
  • Sadist Teacher: Professor Kingsford is well-known as one, particularly for his tendency to single out the worst student as his personal Butt-Monkey.
  • Secret Test of Character: Professor Kingsford keeps a fake answer sheet for the final exam in his desk, and the true test is to steal the answers, since this is a class in evil. Eggman steals the answer sheet, and thus is the only one who passes the final.
  • Self-Deprecation: After taking the gasket from Eggman, Sonic complains about how collecting rings is boring.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Professor Kingsford's name and appearance are based on Professor Kingsfield from The Paper Chase, as is a scene where he scolds Eggman for neglecting to do the first-day reading assignment.
    • In Eggman's nightmare, Sonic references a slogan used in the Trix cereal commercials.
Sonic: Silly Eggman, rings are for hedgehogs!
    • The "Not a Doctor" song, sung to the tune of "Telephone Hour" from Bye Bye Birdie.
  • Telephone Song: The musical number has the characters singing over the telephone (aside from Sonic and Knuckles who use their communicators) that Eggman is no longer a doctor.
  • Tempting Fate: Before his first day of class, Eggman goes Mr. Exposition about Professor Kingsford's reputation as the "Goat Herder", expressing excitement about who the goat of his class will be. Unfortunately, he turns out to be the goat.
  • Title Drop: Done very occasionally throughout this episode.
  • "The Villain Sucks" Song: The catchy "Not a Doctor" song, which is all about how the villagers no longer fear Eggman for not being a doctor.
  • "YEAH!" Shot: Eggman does one when he gets his doctorate... except nothing actually freezes.
