After a humiliating defeat against Team Sonic, Dr. Eggman takes out his frustrations on Orbot and Cubot at his lair. But he goes a little bit too far, prompting the two robots to finally decide enough is enough by going on strike.
Tropes
- Big Brother Is Employing You: When Eggman realizes he can't run his lair without robots, he tries to convince some of the villagers to help him. He gets three in the process: Mike the Ox, Fastidious Beaver and Wolfie, who are able to get the mess in his lair cleaned up, much to his delight; however, their work ends early after Sonic is able to bail them out.
- Call-Back: Burn Bot (who got equipped with flamethrowers in the first episode of the show to live up to his name) blows into a horn while on strike, resulting in flames which Eggman narrowly avoids.
- Curse Cut Short: After showing Fire Bot how to clean up the mess, Eggman tells him "Now you do it, you flaming piece of...". Cut to Fire Bot joining Orbot and Cubot's strike.
- Epic Fail: A Running Gag of this occurs when Eggman's other robots fail to clean up the mess in his lair, prompting them to join Orbot and Cubot's strike. Burn Bot cannot pick up the pieces of the broken mug with his claws, Ballot Stuffer Bot shoots pieces of paper at the mess, and Fire Bot sets the mess on fire.
- Exactly What It Says on the Tin: Orbot and Cubot go on strike in this episode.
- Military Salute: Mike, Fastidious Beaver and Wolfie give this to an appreciative Eggman upon cleaning up the mess in his lair.
- Mythology Gag: Orbot and Cubot use a wooden raft to travel to and from Eggman's lair. Amy is seen using it after the strike ends at the end of the episode.
- Protest Song: "Androids! Annoyed! We're not fairly employed!"
- This also counts as a "The Villain Sucks" Song if you know who Orbot and Cubot are venting their frustrations on.
- Shout-Out: When Sonic and Amy decide to rescue Mike, Fastidious and Wolfie from Eggman, a Batman (1966)-style transition is shown with Sonic's logo.
- Strike Episode: Upon noticing the two robots are fed up with their shabby treatment at Eggman's hands, Amy convinces Orbot and Cubot to go on strike.
- Subverted Rhyme Every Occasion: When Orbot and Cubot start their strike, they chant "Hey! Hey! What do you say! Eggman's treating us very poorly!" Cubot admits that it would be a lot catchier if Rhyme Bot joined their strike. In a later scene, they chant "Hey! Hey! What do you say! Rhyme Bot joined our strike today!"
