Clark and Lois receive a surprise visit from Lois' father Sam (Michael Ironside) and sister Lucy (Peyton List) for Thanksgiving, and Clark and Sam end up clashing over the Vigilante Registration Act.


Tropes present in the episode:

  • The Bus Came Back: General Sam Lane and Lucy Lane return after only appearing in Season 4.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: Clark does this to Sam on Lois' behalf.
  • Daddy's Girl: Lucy and Lois, through Lois breaks out of it.
  • Easily Forgiven: Lucy's actions in "Lucy" are never brought up by Clark.
  • Event Title: The title of the episode refers to Sam and Lucy dropping in on Clark and Lois for Thanksgiving.
  • Forceful Kiss: Lucy forces one on Clark just as Lois walks on them. She's not impressed with her sister.
  • Inspector Javert: Sam means well, but he acts as an antagonist to Clark in this episode.
  • Interrupted Intimacy: In the teaser, Sam and Lucy drop in on Clark and Lois in the middle of an intimate moment between them.
  • Knight Templar Parent: Sam has the NSA investigate Clark when he starts dating Lois.
  • Parental Marriage Veto: Sam forbids Lois from dating Clark when he suspects Clark to be in league with vigilantes.

    • Clark accuses the normally-outspoken Lois of this towards her father when she doesn't argue with his Vigilante Registration Act.
    • Lucy acts like this so her father will stop seeing her as the "troublemaking" sister.
  • You Look Familiar: Elias Toufexis (Emil LaSalle) previously appeared as Bronson in Season 6's "Static."
