Lois is possessed by the Egyptian goddess Isis, who sets out to resurrect her dead lover, Osiris.

Tropes present in the episode:

  • Antagonist Title: The title of the episode refers to Isis, the Villain of the Week.
  • Cursed Item: The Amulet of Isis.
  • Epileptic Trees: An In-Universe example. Cat Grant witnesses Lois (possessed by Isis) use superpowers and then concludes that Lois is The Blur. Tess actually bursts into laughter at Cat's theory.
  • The Glomp: Lois gives one to Clark after he reveals to her that he's The Blur (despite her already knowing).
  • Grand Theft Me: Isis takes over Lois body via the amulet Lois brought back from Egypt.
  • Hot God: Isis in Lois's body.
  • Human Sacrifice: Or, in this case, a Kryptonian Sacrifice (again). Isis attempts to sacrifice Clark so she can resurrect Osiris.
  • Inspector Javert: Cat while trying to expose Lois as The Blur, thanks to the powers Isis has while in Lois body.
  • Intrepid Reporter: Cat proves herself as one when going after Isis.
  • Kick the Dog: Oliver, grieving and guilty over Chloe's departure, takes it all out on Tess when she's genuinely just trying to help.
  • Mirror Monologue: When we first see Lois she is talking to a mirror, rehearsing what she wants to tell Clark when she tells him that she knows he's the Blur.
  • Necromantic: Isis seeks to bring her dead lover, Osiris, Back from the Dead.
  • Oh, Crap!: With her back turned, this is Tess's reaction when Cat says she knows the identity of The Blur and that they're "right in your bullpen".
  • Plot Device: Isis's necklace, which allows Isis to possess Lois. Later in the episode, Clark takes it and uses a burst of heat vision on it to banish Isis from Lois's body.
  • Villain of the Week: Isis.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Sunlight seals her back into the amulet. Kryptonian heat vision works nicely, as it's basically concentrated solar energy.
