When Chloe starts losing her memories due to Brainiac replacing them with Kryptonian code, Clark re-builds the Fortress of Solitude so he can ask Jor-El to heal Chloe.
Tropes present in the episode:
- Bait-and-Switch: When Chloe's memories drop out of her head, they follow a certain order and Chloe is certain that Clark is the one who will be forgotten last, and we've come to expect Clark to be turned into an unwitting rift between Chloe and Jimmy yet again. Instead, memories of Clark are overwritten anyway, leaving just Davis Bloome.
- Laser-Guided Amnesia: Clark asks Jor-El to remove Chloe's memories of his secret.
- So Proud of You: Jor-El tells Clark he's proud of him for making the hard choice to have Chloe's knowledge of his powers and origins removed.Jor-El: You made a difficult choice. I'm proud of you, Kal-El.
- Took a Level in Kindness: Jor-El commends Clark for his new approach to his destiny and agrees to help him save Chloe.
- Wham Line: Brainiac delivers one as he takes control of the Fortress:Brainiac: [to Jor-El] Your son is destined to fail. Soon, a new age will dawn on Earth, an age of power and strength...and the fall of the House of El. Doomsday is coming.
- You Are Not Alone: In the final act, Jor-El assures Clark he'll be there to help him fight Doomsday. Unfortunately, Brainiac takes over the Fortress and silences Jor-El.Jor-El: I'm here for you as well, my son.
