After a rough slide, Rembrandt and Maggie see that Quinn and Colin are missing, and they meet a stranger claiming he's Quinn. They soon learn that the mysterious man is part of an evil genius's experiments with combining parallel dimensions.
Tropes present in the episode:
- Continuity Nod: Speaking through Mallory, Quinn reminds Maggie of when they got married and had a son.
- Convenient Replacement Character: Thanks to Mallory and Diana joining the team, the Sliders remain a quartet after losing Quinn and Colin.
- Evolving Credits: With Quinn gone, the Opening Monologue is now narrated by Rembrandt. The O'Connell brothers are no longer listed in the title sequence...
- Spoiler Opening: ...and to avoid showing the new team members ahead of time...
- Special Edition Title: ...it features only Cleavant Derricks and Kari Wuhrer.
- Fake Shemp: Quinn and Colin are played by stand-ins, and are only seen from behind. Quinn even says one line in a voice that sounds nothing like Jerry O'Connell's.
- Flip Personality: Mallory keeps shifting between his own personality and Quinn's.
- Fusion Dance: The two Quinns are the "switcher" variety. The new Quinn is the dominant persona, but the old Quinn sometimes takes control.
- Magic Countdown: Dr. Geiger's machine still beeps, but does not actually count down when it's out of shot.
- Put on a Bus to Hell: Colin has been "unstuck," doomed to endlessly drift across the multiverse with no way to stick to one dimension.
- The End of the World as We Know It: Geiger's experiments wreak havoc on his world and threatens others.
- The Nicknamer: Rembrandt dubs Mallory "Fog Boy."
- Wham Line:Rembrandt: Who the hell are you?
Mallory: I'm Quinn. Quinn Mallory.
