Quinn, Maggie, and Rembrandt land on a world where the Oracle, a fundamentalist organization, reigns. They soon learn the disturbing truth behind the Oracle and run afoul of the authorities.
Tropes present in the episode:
- Alternate History: Samson mentions Julius Caesar II.
- Heel–Face Turn: Cadmus, who returns the timer to the Sliders.
- Path of Inspiration: The Oracle, whose promises of passage to Paradise involves incinerating unknowing followers.
- Released to Elsewhere: Oracle's portal, which ostensibly transports people to a new world, turns out to be nothing but a big incinerator.
- Richard Nixon, the Used Car Salesman:
- On the Oracle world, no one has ever heard of Abraham Lincoln. Their money is believed to be counterfeit as it bears his image.
- Similarly, Maggie has never heard of Thomas Jefferson, indicating that he either never existed or never became a major figure in The American Revolution on her world, which was seen in "The Exodus".
