With the Sword of Methuselah in hand, Ichabod and Abbie gather their allies as Moloch prepares to unleash the forces of Hell upon the face of the earth.

Tropes present in the episode:

  • Broke Your Arm Punching Out Cthulhu: Irving sustains a mortal wound during his fight with Henry's Animated Armor.
  • Character Death: Moloch is killed when Henry stabs him with the Sword of Methuselah.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Henry impaling Moloch with the Sword of Methuselah, causing the demon to explode into red light.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Irving, using the Sword of Methuselah, takes on War...and wins, but at a high price.
  • The Dog Bites Back: After Henry's Horseman armor is destroyed by Irving, he retreats to Moloch, who sends him to confront our heroes and makes it clear to Henry that he considers him expendable. In the final act, Henry takes the Sword of Methuselah and stabs Moloch with it, killing him.
  • Downer Ending: Irving dies and Henry out-gambits the heroes AGAIN—only to subvert the trope at the last moment when he turns on Moloch and kills him.
  • Instant Expert: Apparently if someone doesn't actually have swordsmanship skills, the Sword of Methuselah will do the work for them. This comes in handy for Irving, who has never wielded a sword before.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: A Jokoto Samurai sword is among Hawley's possessions, which Ichabod identifies as a katana. According to Hawley, it imbues its wielder with the strength of all previous samurai to wield it.
    • Made all the more awesome given that the katana was enchanted to masquerade as the Sword of Methuselah in Abbie's possession, but probably not did imbue her with the instant mastery that the Sword of Methuselah did. So Abbie was using a freaking Katana on her first time picking it up to fight off Henry's animated roots, at least for a little while.
  • Loophole Abuse: Jenny works out that Irving can use the sword without it consuming his soul as his own one is already owned by Henry.
  • Rain of Blood: Specifically, hail of blood.
  • Wham Episode: It turns out using the Sword of Methuselah will kill the wielder, Ichabod and Katrina all but call it quits in the marriage department, Irving dies after destroying War's armor with the Sword of Methuselah, and Henry gets the upper hand on the heroes...and kills Moloch with the Sword of Methuselah.
