Strykore is on his way to the Island of Arkus to claim the Iron Fist of Arkus, but the heroes have no way of their own to find it, except for one method that would require rescuing Cynder from Malefor, but the problem what that is that Eon has been unable to locate her location in the underworld. Luckily, Flynn has just seen them recently and is offering to lead the Skylanders there.
This episode provides examples of:
- Bait-and-Switch Comment: After Malefor has glued the team to hang from rocks, he tells them to “hang out for a while”. Eruptor’s reaction is saying that he hates him, which seems at first to be a Lame Pun Reaction, until he says that the pun is good.
- Hurricane of Puns: Glumshanks drops three concrete-puns in unison when he tells Kaos that his plan to save him from his cell has failed.Kaos: Enough with the concrete related wordplay! I mean clever, but not the time!
- Laser-Guided Karma: In the last season’s finale, Malefor used acting to trick Cynder into letting down her guard so he could take her. In this episode, Malefor falls for (almost) the same trick used by Spyro which is used to get Cynder from him.
- Never Be Hurt Again: The last time Spyro visited Malefor, it resulted in him becoming evil which put his friends in danger. This made him afraid of Malefor, fearful for what his friends can be put through again, so he tries to stall the mission of rescuing Cynder so he wouldn’t have to confront Malefor again.
