Recap / Skylanders Academy S1 E5 "The Hole Truth"

Written by: Dean Stefan

The same day Kaos, Glumshanks and Dreamcatcher get inserted into Cloudcracker Prison, Spyro, Stealth Elf and Eruptor are to serve their one day of guard duty. While the trio are trying to be the best guards they can be, Kaos tries to make an impression on his idols, the Doom Raiders. While they obviously doesn't want anything to do with him, they still seem keen to allow Kaos to be a part of their escape plan.

This episode provides examples of

  • The Bad Guy Wins: The Doom Raider's plan works out and they escape despite Spyro, Eruptor and Stealth Elf trying to stop them. Kaos and Glumshanks also escape, although in another way.
  • Butt-Monkey: There's one Mabu prisoner who is subject to most of the comedy in the episode. He's the one to be frozen by the badge to establish its power, he is the first one to be sent to The Hole by the trio (for interacting with a squirrel, no less) and at the end of the episode, he gets frozen by the Skylanders yet again.
  • Felony Misdemeanor: The Hole is reserved for the prisoners who act the most out of line, and if that's the case, then Cloudcracker Prison must have some very loose ideas on what qualifies as "out of line". While some like Chompy Mage and Wolfgang truly did do stuff that would warrant such a punishment, others were nowhere near as close.
    • A Mabu prisoner is sent there because he interacted with the local rodents of the prison.
    • Chef Pepper Jack and Dreamcatcher were sent there because they both made a mess in the food hall.
    • Broccoli Guy tried to force Spyro to eat him, which is seen as bad because according to him "Broccoli is bad for you!".
    • Golden Queen simply needs to tell the trio that she and the Doom Raiders are planing something for them to send her there.
  • Late to the Tragedy: Snap Shot and the other guards arrive at The Hole literally the second after the wormhole the Doom Raiders created to escape closes.
