So beautiful...

Kyoko has met Corn in Guam and is overjoyed about it. As happy as she is about this, she cannot help but notice how much Corn has changed since the time they spent when they were both children.

Corn admits to her that he is 'cursed' and Kyoko quickly offers any help she can give. However, the well-known ways to break a curse are not ones she feels she can accomplish.

Can Kyoko save Corn?

Chapters in this volume contain examples of:

  • Armor-Piercing Question: Kyoko tells Corn that she can't kiss him because she promised Ren Tsuruga to keep her chastity safe. Corn asks her why she promised that, considering he isn't even her lover.
  • Big Damn Kiss: Corn gives a full-lip-contact one to a very surprised Kyoko in Chapter 211.
  • Call-Back: During her little act, Kyoko mentions that every one of her experiences has shaped her into the person she is today, calling back to this being what Lory told her in Chapter 203.
  • Character Development: Chapter 212 has Ren put Rick's watch on his left wrist, instead of his right. Previously, he had it on his right wrist to serve as a metaphorical 'shackle'.
  • Curse: Corn states that there's a curse on him since birth, and Kyoko takes this in the sense of being a magical curse.
  • Do Not Try This at Home: After Corn jumps off the balcony, he grabbed a flagpole sticking out of the wall, twirled around it a few times and jumped to the ground. A disclaimer is on the bottom of the page.
Good kids, please don't copy this.
  • First-Name Basis: Played straight and then for laughs. Kyoko tells Corn he can drop the '-chan' from her name, but stops him when he tries it out because he's still borrowing Ren Tsuruga's voice.
  • Hazmat Suit: The extra story shows the grudge demons wearing some protective suits, which allowed them to be protected from the power of Ren's smile.
  • Life Energy: Thinking of things Corn might need to break the curse upon him, Kyoko quickly offers to take her blood, which she says is the indispensible 'life force' people have, and gets often used for spells.
  • Magic Kiss: What Corn states to likely break the curse upon him, as a kiss is very often the only thing strong enough to break any type of curse.
  • Mayfly–December Romance: Defied by Kyoko, who says that, happy as she is about Corn loving her, the two could not enter a romance because she's a human and he's a fairy. She even recalls that he once told her that a fairy staying in the human world would only live for about 10 years.
  • Mutual Envy: Despite Kuon/Corn and Ren Tsuruga being the same person, each considers the other persona to be separate. Ren is envious of how much more casual Kyoko is around Corn and how the atmosphere feels more intimate. In turn, Corn is annoyed that Kyoko seemingly places large value on a promise made to Ren, and how highly she regards him. He gets over it when he realizes that Kyoko holds both of them dearly, but in different ways.
  • Shout-Out: Chapter 209 opens up with shouts to various fairytales, where a kiss has broken several curses.
    • Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
    • Sleeping Beauty
    • Beauty and the Beast
    • The Frog King
  • The Stoic: Kyoko is sad when she notices that Corn has turned into this.
  • When He Smiles: After managing to 'break his curse', Corn does smile at Kyoko again. And continues to be much happier in the following chapter.
