Recap / 6teen S2 E26 "Girlie Boys"

Go To

When Jonesy finds out he has a unibrow, Caitlin takes him to the Galleria Mall Spa to get it waxed off. He realizes that the spa is a great place to pick up girls (since the clientele is almost exclusively female), and gets a job there in order to see more of the female clientele. Jude prepares for a speed-skating competition against a rude skater named Mike Dent. And Caitlin gets a second job at a chocolate shop called Chocoholics Anonymous in order to afford a new pair of jeans.

Tropes

  • Balloon Belly: Caitlin gets this as a result from eating all the free chocolate—seriously, she ends up gaining so much weight that she ends up looking like she's heavily pregnant.
  • Big Eater: Caitlin eats 6 pounds of chocolate, per day.
  • The Fat Episode: The episode's B-plot revolves around Caitlin fattening herself up on chocolate.
  • Fat Slob: Downplayed with Caitlin, but she while eating chocolate she constantly has a ton of it smeared all over her mouth and hands.
  • Foreshadowing: One of the ladies at the spa laments how sad it is how "some girls just let themselves go". Caitlin does just that later in the episode.
  • Girls Love Chocolate: Caitlin and her new coworker—they both get fat as a result. One customer that comes in reveals that she's a former employee and that when she worked there, she gained nearly thirty pounds in just three months.
  • I Warned You: When Caitlin first tells Jen and Nikki about her new job at Chocoholics Anonymous (and how one of the fringe benefits is that employees can have all the free chocolate they want), Jen notes that it might be not be a good idea for Caitlin to work there, because of how much she loves chocolate. Jen's ultimately proven right, and when Caitlin gets upset with her friends for apparently not telling her that she was getting fat from eating so much chocolate, Jen points out that she did try warning Caitlin, but, "You wouldn't listen. You were eating six pounds of chocolate a day."
  • Jerkass: Mike Dent
  • Obsessed with Food: After Caitlin fattens herself up with chocolate from her workplace, she's seen constantly eating it in every scene thereafter; up until her gained weight keeps her from buttoning up her jeans, after which she goes cold turkey.
  • Popping Buttons: Caitlin's skirt button pops off as she begins to put on weight—and this happens right after she says, "Can you imagine eating enough chocolate to gain twenty-five pounds?"
  • The Snack Is More Interesting: Caitlin's chocolate addiction reaches absurd levels when, during her first stint as Jude's makeshift parachute since letting herself go, she's more focused on eating than she is on the people she keeps bumping into, and knocking over due to her extra bulk.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Even with a gut the size of her head, Caitlin still doesn't notice she's put on weight until she tries on a pair of jeans; this is despite her skirt button popping off and going out of her way to adjust her skirt whenever her stomach started to sag.
  • Uncanny Valley Makeup: When the guys start trying to up their game in improving their looks through the spa, they start to go overboard, so when the girls see them the second time they're more put off by it starting to look unnatural. As Jen points out:
Jen: (to Jonsey) Your spray-on tan is orange, (to Wyatt) your teeth are so bleached they're practically blue, and Jude! What's with all the waxing?! You look like you're made of plastic!
  • A Weighty Aesop: Caitlin learns the hard way to never eat too much chocolate before trying on jeans.
