"Pilot" is the first episode of the first season of Sirens (US).
Johnny and Hank are introduced to their new partner, ex-"Easter Seal", Brian. Meanwhile, Johnny tails Theresa, his cop-girlfriend who he's on break with, as she goes on a date, and he and Hank get Brian drunk so they can use his car.
This episode provides examples of:
- Ass Shove: One of the patients they encounter has a soda bottle lodged in there. Johnny is able to get it out by driving over a large bump in the road.
- Big Ego, Hidden Depths: Johnny, despite being a bit of a Jerkass, is shown to truly care about Theresa (and his friends, for that matter). He's also shown to be a highly skilled paramedic.
- Book Dumb: Johnny openly admits that he read a lot of books.
- Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Johnny is shown to be very good at his job, noticing that a person who's collapsed is in anaphylactic shock, and gives him a shot of adrenaline.
- Butt-Monkey: Brian is starting to become one, just shortly after he joins the team.
- Chekhov's Gun: Interestingly subverted, as they tell Brian that the bottle was in the guy's ass, but don't tell him it's actually a different bottle.
- Can't Hold His Liquor: Brian ends up drunk and naked in the back of his car, and is incredibly hung over the next day.
- Did Not Think This Through: Johnny traces Theresa's phone to find her on her date, but doesn't realize that she did the same thing to his phone a long time ago.
- Every Man Has His Price: Subverted. The Soda bottle guy really doesn't want to go to the hospital, so he offers the guys $2000 if they try to get it out themselves, $3000 if the "twink" (Brian) does it. Unfortunately for him, they don't go for it.
- Mistaken for Gay: The guy with a soda bottle up his ass calls Brian a "twink".
- Take That!: According to Hank, Theresa using her sister as her I.C.E. is like him using Ann Coulter.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Happens rather frequently to Johnny, who's called out for first continually refusing to move in with Theresa, and then for tailing her on her date.
