Recap / Simple Samosa Episode 9 Carnival Chaos

Go To

Vada, tired of not being allowed to ride any of the rides at the carnival due to being too short, ends up discovering a cave that's also a secret ride and is told that he'll be King of the Carnival if he completes it. Samosa goes in after him, making sure he's okay; outside, the adults worry about Vada getting stuck in the cave.

"Carnival Chaos" contains the following tropes:

  • Alliterative Title: "Carnival Chaos" repeats the letter "C".
  • Bomb Whistle: Samosa's falling body makes this sound when he jumps into the hole leading to the bubblegum ride.
  • Good-Times Montage: Samosa, Dhokla, and Jalebi enjoying themselves on the carnival rides is presented as a montage. It's good times for everyone expect Vada, who's too short to get on the rides and clearly shows a look of aggravation as he watches his friends.
  • Inconsistent Coloring: The episode can't seem to make up its mind if Sher Singh, the carnival's owner, is pink or yellow. This leaks into later episodes, too; he's either pink or yellow depending on which episode you're watching.
  • Soft Water: Or, alternatively, soft chutney. When Samosa and Vada are launched from the bubblegum cave, they fall into a lake of chutney with no visible damage.
  • Toilet Humor: A tunnel in the cave looks like an intestine and leads out of a pair of hills that look like a butt, making it look like Samosa and Vada get pooped out.
  • Totem Pole Trench: Popcorn, the corn cob at the hole leading to the cave, is just three corn cobs stacked on each other wearing a trench coat that hides two of them.
  • Who's on First?: In the English redub, Popcorn introduces himself in a way that makes Vada think he's asking if he wants to have some popcorn, to which he says "no".
  • You Must Be This Tall to Ride: Vada is too short to get on any of the rides, but his friends aren't, leading to him getting mad at only being able to watch the rides without actually getting to be on the rides. At the end of the episode, the "you must be this tall to ride" sign on Hazam Gully is shortened so that Vada can get on the ride.
