Thomas Stories: The Diseasal, Donald's Duck

It's time for Shining Time Station's annual inspection. Dan, Becky, and Kara are making paper cut-outs. Stacy asks them to clean up their mess so that the station will look nice when J.B. King comes to inspect the station. Mr. Conductor arrives and Dan asks if he could trace him and draw a picture of him. Mr. Conductor agrees and Dan sets to work. A little while later, the picture is finished. Mr. Conductor is impressed with it, saying that it could be his twin. After finishing his story, Mr. Conductor leaves to get his whistle tuned. As he vanishes, a bit of his gold dust is left in the air. The kids grab it and decide to sprinkle it on the picture to make it look even more like Mr. Conductor. The kids then go help Stacy clean up. Time passes and suddenly, the gold dust causes the picture of Mr. Conductor to come to life. However, this Mr. Conductor is the complete opposite of the original one. He plans to play mean tricks on everybody and make them blame the real Mr. Conductor, forcing him to leave Shining Time Station. Sure enough, his plan nearly falls through. Mr. Conductor arrives with his bags, and is almost about to leave. Luckily, the kids explain themselves, and Mr. Conductor stays. They then try to come up with a plan to catch the evil twin. Mr. Conductor come to the conclusion that the only way to catch a trickster is to use trickery. The real Mr. Conductor tricks the twin into lying down on the cutout, and turns him back into a drawing. Soon after, J.B. King arrives to give his inspection, and will give the station a passing grade. On one condition though: he gets to keep the drawing of Mr. Conductor's twin. Dan agrees, and the station gets a passing grade. This also means that the station is rid of the evil twin... for now...

This episode provides examples of:

  • Always Identical Twins: Mr. Conductor and the evil twin look exactly alike. The real Mr. Conductor states that he's much taller, which the twin denies. Mr. Conductor then counters with the fact that the twin is fatter. None of these statements are actually true, though.
  • Evil Twin: The episode's antagonist is an evil twin of Mr. Conductor.
  • Gag Echo: Mr. Conductor's Title Drop is echoed. He then lampshades it.
  • The Inspector Is Coming: The plot revolves around J.B. King coming to give the station its annual inspection.
  • Rhymes on a Dime: The evil twin speaks completely in rhyme.
  • Stock "Yuck!": It is revealed in this episode that Mr. Conductor does not like peas. After he tells the story of "The Diseasel", he says that he wishes he had a twin to eat his peas for him.
  • Title Drop: At the end of the episode, Mr. Conductor states that he's had enough Double Trouble.
