Chapter 9: Experiment
The new machine developed by Big Sis with the support of Shijima and Majime, dubbed the "Raw Fish Generator", was finally complete. Shijima recalls encountering the same device in her sister's dream back when she grew a third mushroom during a rainy day. Although dreams typically belong to their dreamers, it may no longer be true from now on. After the group celebrates their achievement with some cola, Big Sis proceeds to activate the machine, which, in her own words, "takes back the world from God". Majime becomes anxious about the device's safety, since all she wanted was to have a pajama party with Shijima. When the Raw Fish Generator starts up, true to its name, it produces ethereal fish that can be manipulated using a conch-shaped device attached to a stick. These peculiar fish are referred to as "Fish with Names" by Big Sis, which Shijima shortens to "Fishes". The "dangerous" part of this experiment commences when the group moves up to the rooftop of the danchi.
During the ascent, Majime contemplates the mysterious attraction between the ethereal fish and the shells. Upon reaching their destination, Big Sis provides the girls with some pills for the experiment. Immediately after ingestion, the "fish" begin to enter their bodies, causing the world around them to twist and distort, while Big Sis gleefully celebrates her progress. Shijima and Majime are soon transported to the Dreamscape, but the former finds herself alone on the rooftop, with several danchi surrounding her.
