The day of Glimmer's coronation arrives, overshadowed by grief. Accompanied by Adora and Bow, she embarks on a quest to find the Chamber of Queens.

Tropes

  • Achilles' Heel: Catra easily stops Hordak in his tracks by ripping the First Ones crystal out of his armor.
  • Bait-and-Switch: The prologue features Castaspella suddenly asking Glimmer to make an urgent decision. Once Glimmer points somewhere and makes a choice, it's revealed Glimmer was deciding on what to serve as dessert during her coronation.
  • Berserk Button: Hordak really hates the mention of Entrapta's name.
  • Change the Uncomfortable Subject: Everyone tries to avoid mentioning Angella around Glimmer. This actually makes her feel worse, like they're trying to forget her.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Catra tears out a wire for the lighting system in Hordak's throne room. In the confusion, she pounces on him and tears out the LUVD crystal powering his exoskeleton before he even knows what hit him.
  • Continuity Nod: Adora, Bow, Perfuma, Frosta, Mermista, and Sea Hawk all wear their Princess Prom outfits to the coronation.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Catra easily defeats Hordak by ripping out the crystal powering his armor.
  • Double-Meaning Title: The episode title clearly references Glimmer's coronation into Queen, but it could also be applied to Catra crowning herself the new co-leader of the Horde after bringing Hordak to kneel.
  • Dragon Ascendant: Catra usurps Hordak and declares they're not going to be wasting time on his "vanity projects" anymore; they're going to conquer the planet before Horde Prime arrives.
  • Evolving Credits: The opening sequence is updated with new characters from seasons 3 and 4. The villains shot is updated to show the new dynamics between them.
  • Fastball Special: An unusual variation — while they're fighting the crystal monster, Bow drops onto his back and uses his arms and legs to boost She-Ra into the air.
  • Foreshadowing: When Hordak is ranting at her, Catra looks down at the First Ones crystal in his armor, setting up her eventually tearing it out of his chest in order to get him to listen to her at the episode's climax.
  • Get a Hold of Yourself, Man!: Adora does this to Bow while on the verge of losing it herself.
Bow: I don't know where the lantern is! Glimmer can't do the quest without it, and and she can't be queen without the quest! Oh, I doomed the entire kingdom!
Adora: Bow, calm down! We just have to find the lantern, and Glimmer will be none the wiser! It has to be around here somewhere, right? This day is going to be PERFECT!
  • Kneel Before Zod: With the crystal powering his armor torn off, Hordak is too weak to stand and thus has no choice but to kneel, as Catra stands over him and sits down on what used to be his throne. While she doesn't actually demand he do so, it's clear she's enjoying the turnabout.
  • Meaningful Echo: As Catra takes control of the Horde, she smirks at Hordak and says "I think you and I are going to do great things together" — although Catra doesn't know it, it's the same thing Shadow Weaver said to Micah and an infant Adora in "Light Spinner", reflecting that Catra has now turned the tables and she's the one with power over Hordak.
  • Mood Whiplash: The episode briefly shifts from the usual mix of drama and comedy to full-on wackiness at about the four-minute mark, with Frosta deciding to be the bouncer, Adora struggling to move a giant ice sculpture as herself instead of using She-Ra's superhuman strength, Bow trying so hard to read the fine print of a scroll that he literally puts his face on the paper, a bored Mermista being roped into flower arrangement duty, Perfuma having a sobbing breakdown due to being passed over for that duty (which continues in the background until the scene changes), Frosta running Swift Wind off for bothering Glimmer, and Mermista flooding the balcony with seawater and seaweed.
  • Mundane Utility: Adora uses the Sword of Protection's Morph Weapon ability to turn it into a mop.
  • Oh, Crap!: The horrified look on Hordak's face after Catra tells him Horde Prime likely won't be pleased if he arrives and Etheria hasn't been conquered clearly shows Hordak didn't think about that when he sent his signal last season.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: Catra gets some revenge on Hordak for his ungratefulness and sending her out to die in the Crimson Waste by ripping out the LUVD crystal powering his life support armor and browbeating him into making her co-ruler of the Horde.
  • Pimped-Out Cape: Usually those Glimmer wears are simple easily animated fare. The one exception is her coronation cape, or possibly robe, a huge white thing that puts all other capes to shame.
  • Promotion to Opening Titles: Inverted with Entrapta, who was removed from the group shot at the end.
  • Psychotic Smirk: After realizing how to defeat Hordak, Catra eventually makes an evil-looking grin.
  • Rousing Speech: Glimmer gives one to the Rebellion after her coronation.
  • Running Gag: Castaspella pouncing on Glimmer to make a decision about some inconsequential detail of the coronation.
  • Slouch of Villainy: When Hordak arrives in his throne room, he finds Catra lounging on his throne, which infuriates him. She seems to do it deliberately to catch him off guard as, after declaring themselves partners, she sits straight down on the throne.
  • Villain Has a Point: Catra presumes that Horde Prime is not tolerant of failure and he wouldn't be pleased if Hordak failed to conquer Etheria by the time he arrived. So Hordak should stop focusing on his "vanity projects" and focus on destroying the Rebellion. Hordak doesn't deny it, in fact the audience has already seen that Horde Prime's lack of patience for weakness is why he banished Hordak in the first place.
  • Visual Pun: When Glimmer finally loses her temper, the head of Frosta's ice statue of Glimmer falls off.
  • Willfully Weak: Glimmer hasn't been recharging her powers at the Moonstone because, if she does, it would mean admitting that her mother is gone for good.
