Glimmer wants to make a raid on the Fright Zone, and her mother isn't willing to help...but Shadow Weaver is. Adora tries to talk to Entrapta.

Tropes

  • Apocalypse How: Entrapta realizes how bad opening a portal would be.
Entrapta: If my numbers are right, and they are, if we open a portal the anomalies will be catastrophic. It'll unhinge time and space, creating a warped reality that will collapse in on itself, erasing us from existence!
  • Badass Armfold: After she and Frosta get Lonnie and Rogelio (who are their enemies) stuck in some ice, Mermista folds her arms.
  • Big "NO!":
    • Angella yells "No!" when she witnesses Glimmer teleporting away to the Fright Zone through Shadow Weaver.
    • Adora yells one after Catra flips the switch in order to activate the portal machine.
  • Bound and Gagged: Adora is all tied up for the episode.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: When called out by Adora for lying to her the entire time she was with the Horde, Hordak casually denies it— because you can't lie to someone you never even knew, or cared, existed.
  • Calling the Old Man Out:
    • Adora calls out Hordak for lying to her all her life. Hordak doesn't care enough about Adora for it to be effective.
    • Glimmer does this to Angella for thinking she wouldn't be ready, after the latter refuses to approve the raid and cites it would put her in danger, because she's paralyzed by fear. Both of them clearly regret the fight afterwards, but Glimmer ends up teleporting to the Fright Zone before she and Angella can make up.
    • Catra does this to Shadow Weaver when she's captured by the sorceress' magic, asking her if she even cared about what happened to her after she escaped from the Horde. After noting that, despite everything she's done, Shadow Weaver gets to be redeemed by the princesses, Catra vows to open the portal so she can have revenge against her and the rest of the Rebellion.
  • Did You Actually Believe...?: A villain on villain example. After lying to Hordak about Entrapta betraying them to the princesses, Catra mockingly asks him if he really thought she was on their side and tells him they can't trust anyone.
  • Don't Make Me Destroy You: When she has Catra at her mercy, Shadow Weaver tells her not to make her destroy her.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Even Entrapta realizes opening the portal is more trouble than it's worth and attempts to convince Hordak to abandon the project. Unfortunately, Catra knocks her out before she gets the opportunity to do so.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • Despite supporting Catra's every decision, Scorpia is horrified after Catra knocks Entrapta out to prevent her from talking Hordak out of opening the portal and having her sent to Beast Island. Even more so when Catra threatens Scorpia herself to keep her mouth shut.
    • Despite being as twisted as she always is, Shadow Weaver genuinely wants to stop the Horde from opening a portal and helps Glimmer do so.
  • Finger Gun: The lizard woman makes one of her hands resemble a gun.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: When Catra’s new goat minion opens a locker in the Fright Zone, briefly visible inside are a picture of Kyle with a heart next to it and drawings of a blond human/reptile hybrid child, captioned “R <3 K”
  • Godzilla Threshold: With Adora captured and Hordak and Entrapta almost finished with the portal machine, Glimmer and Bow team up with Shadow Weaver to get to the Fright Zone when Angella refuses to take action.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Catra reluctantly retreats from Shadow Weaver when it's made clear that the latter is too powerful to stop as long as Glimmer is fueling her magic.
  • Laughing Mad: When Entrapta tells her Adora was right about the portal have disastrous results, an upset Catra makes a fairly unstable-sounding laugh.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Entrapta, until now a Mad Scientist who operated entirely with a For Science! approach with little to no regard for the consequences, is genuinely frightened to find out opening the portal might cause an Apocalypse How. She even admits she never thought she would be in defense of shutting the project down.
  • Playful Cat Smile: Befitting of a Cat Girl, Catra makes a couple mischievous smiles that resemble ">:3"s.
  • Psychotic Smirk: Catra smiles evilly right before she pulls the switch.
  • Redemption Rejection: Both Adora and Shadow Weaver try to convince Catra not to help Hordak open a portal. Unfortunately for all parties involved, Catra wants to get back at the two so badly she opens a portal herself at the end of the episode to spite them.
  • Sanity Slippage: Catra's hate for Adora and Shadow Weaver really drives her off the deep end.
Catra: Adora is right. (laughs) Adora gets everything she wants!
  • She Knows Too Much: After realizing how dangerous opening the portal will be, Entrapta plans to warn Hordak about it, but Catra knocks her out and has her goons transfer her to Beast Island.
  • Shut Up, Kirk!: When Adora calls out Hordak for his lies, Hordak shoots back that her argument presumes he ever even cared to lie to her. He makes it clear she never meant anything to him, and he only cares now because her sword is useful to his plans.
  • Silent Credits: The credits start with no music to emphasize the episode's ending.
  • Suicidal Cosmic Temper Tantrum: Catra is so desperate to beat Adora, she activates the portal that may destroy everything for essentially no reason except Adora doesn't want the universe to end.
  • Unfinished, Untested, Used Anyway: Entrapta was ready to use the portal without even thinking to test it safely until Adora pointed out it could be dangerous. Once she does test it via simulation, Entrapta realizes it would likely destroy the planet, which Catra ignores simply because she cannot accept Adora was right about it.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Despite going with her to the Crimson Wastes, helping her capture Adora, and just being overall helpful to her, Catra doesn't give Scorpia anymore then a half-hearted "couldn't have done any of it without you, thanks." Later on, she flat out threatens to send her to Beast Island with Entrapta if she doesn't stay in line.
  • Villainous Breakdown:
    • Catra's Sanity Slippage gets worse once Shadow Weaver arrives and Entrapta says they can't open the portal. She impulsively knocks out Entrapta, sends her to Beast Island to cover her tracks, threatens Scorpia to keep her from talking, lies to Hordak and tells her Entrapta was a traitor, and finally opens the portal herself to spite Adora.
    • Hordak is devastated when Catra lies to him about Entrapta's supposed betrayal, which may be why he doesn't realise he's being fooled, when the whole reason he had her transferred was for lying to him.
