Back for the Dead: Hodge, who was imprisoned in the City of Bones in the cell next to Jace's for his betrayal, winds up killed by Valentine when he storms in looking for the Soul-Sword.
Batman Gambit: A demon that feeds on people's negative emotions and influences their behavior to the worst, infiltrates the Institute and goes on a killing spree. Valentine is revealed to have sent it to create a diversion that would buy him enough time to steal the Soul-Sword from the Clave, which equally makes him as responsible as the demon for Jocelyn's death.
Character Death: Jocelyn is killed in this episode, by Alec possessed by the demon, no less.
Zig-zagged. The demon killing Jocelyn through a stranger is one thing, but possessing Alec to do so - the one person who had a harsh and distrusftul attitude towards her - speaks volumes about this trope, even if he was later shocked and horrified about it.
It also possesses Raj as he attacks Lydia and almost kills her, throwing in her face the fact that Alec "ditched" her in their wedding over Magnus.
