A vampire is attacking Crystal Cove and stealing apparently random items. Meanwhile, the gang's camaraderie weakens as Shaggy's breakup leaves Velma bitter and Daphne's desire to be more than friends is still not getting through to Fred.
The episode provides examples of:
- Absurdly Youthful Mother: Lampshaded by the criminal who states that Daphne's mom might be middle aged but she still looks like a teenager.
- A Bloody Mess: When Fred comes back from blood bank covered in red liquid.Scooby: I-i-i-is that b-b-b-blood?
- Brainless Beauty: Daphne's mom. While she's taking classes, she quickly reveals she has no idea what they're about.
- Early-Bird Cameo: The gang passes a statue of Char Gar Gothakon on their way outside after the vampire's unmasking.
- Foreshadowing: Velma is the one who says that "Maybe we're not a team anymore". Guess who gets the blame for the team split up in the Season 1 finale?
- Freeze-Frame Bonus: The Halloween magazine contains some amusing text on the page next to the recipe, mostly involving the writer announcing their refusal to pay their taxes and becoming bizarrely obsessed with criticizing the appearance of some random guy at the grocery store. Even on the recipe page itself, you can find a footnote that reads, "May not actually work". Averted with Velma's newspaper and the physics textbook, which contain nothing but random gibberish.
- Green-Eyed Monster: The vampire is revealed to be Daphne's mom's friend that is jealous of her friend's good looks.
- A House Divided: "I guess we're not a team anymore."
- Innocently Insensitive: As soon as Daphne's mom becomes a suspect, Fred keeps bringing it up in front of her and doesn't understand why she seems so upset about it.
- Let's Split Up, Gang!: Parodied. When Daphne and Velma decide to not go with the boys, Fred states that it's not the place to split up.
- Monster of the Week: The Vampire, who steals seemingly random items.
- Shout-Out:
- Velma on Daphne's mom: "She's a freak! She's the fastest mom alive!"
- Velma's mom apparently ordered some monkeys from Skull Island.
- The fancy restaurant is called "The Crabnet of Dr. Calimari".
- Toilet Humor: All over the place, with mentions of Daphne's mom getting "the squeakers", talk of throwing "poo" on plants, and French "oui-oui" jokes, the first two of which show up in the first ten minutes.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: The breakup has made Velma very moody towards Shaggy and Scooby.
- You Called Me "X"; It Must Be Serious: You know Velma's really pissed at Shaggy when she calls him by his proper name.Velma: (coldly and abruptly) Goodnight, Norville.
- Fred: Another mystery solved.
Velma:Yeah.
Daphne: Well, see you guys, I guess.
Fred: Yeah, I…uh better call it a night, so…uh, trap you later.
Shaggy: Listen Velma, I...

Shaggy: Looks like it's just me and you, Scooby doo.
