Jack must face his greatest enemy yet: an evil copy of himself, brought into being by Aku.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Artistic License – Economics: TWO GOOGLEPLEX?!? For reference, that's a 2 followed by 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 zeroes! There shouldn't even be this much money within the entire universe.
  • Battle Amongst the Flames: In the midst of their furious duel, Jack and Mad Jack's clashing swords create sparks that quickly ignite the forest around them into a roaring blaze. Fittingly, once Jack regains his sense of inner peace and lets go of his anger, the wildfire around them dies down as well.
  • Blade Reflection: During their fight, Jack and Mad Jack cross blades, and Jack sees his own eyes reflected: they look just like Mad Jack's.
  • Boring Insult: Jack tells Aku that he finds these tricks as boring after besting Mad Jack.
  • Bring It: After taking down a seemingly endless stream of mooks, a testosterone-addled and angry Jack shouts to the sky "WHO ELSE WANTS SOME???"
  • The Cameo: One of the bounty hunters that tries to take down Jack is Huntor, a villain who previously appeared in a Dial M for Monkey segment of Dexter's Laboratory.
  • Character Development: Before this episode, Jack was a bit more temperamental and prone to angry outbursts. This encounter led him to be much slower to get angry and channel it into more of a Tranquil Fury when he did.
  • Enemy Without: Mad Jack, spawned directly from Jack's inner rage.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: While Aku is frustrated over every bounty hunter failing to defeat Jack, he growls "Is there no fighting style that can defeat his?" before realizing what he said and smirking. Since "no fighting style can defeat his" he decides to create Mad Jack, to use Jack's own fighting against him.
  • Evil Me Scares Me: As Jack struggles with his dark half, he sees the reflection of his own eyes in his sword and to his horror sees they bear great resemblance.
  • Fearful Symmetry: During the Blade Lock, Jack was fazed to see that his eyes look just like Mad Jack's.
  • Maniac Monkeys: One of the bounty hunters chasing Jack looks (and acts) like a white, three-eyed giant monkey.
  • Mirror Match: Jack and Mad Jack match each other blow for blow, with neither able to gain an advantage over the other. As the battle rages on to the point it sets the forest on fire, it becomes near impossible to tell who is who. Mad Jack is only defeated when Jack calms down and lets go of his anger, causing Mad Jack to fade from existence.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: For the only time in the whole show, Aku briefly has much more teeth than he normally has.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Jack has just fought off a small army of bounty hunters single-handed, but he manages to calm himself down... then his sandal strap breaks...
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Mad Jack's gi is black with red trim, contrasting the white with gray trim of Jack's gi. Even his eyes are red.
  • Villainous Breakdown: After Jack sees the reflection of his own eyes in his sword, he backs out and calms himself. Jack then claims the fight was over, stating that the negative emotions that formed Mad Jack are gone, meaning Mad Jack doesn't exist. Refusing to let Jack look down on him, Mad Jack boasts that he was real and charges toward Jack to deliver the final blow, but Jack remained in a meditative position, not even bothering to defend. As he was to strike Jack down, Mad Jack is instantly in Jack's control, able to do nothing except scream in impotent fury and defeat before he's sealed off by Jack.
