Chapter 6

Tropes That Appear In This Chapter:

  • Beast and Beauty: A Platonic example. Much like with Michelangelo, Tang Shen shows a remarkable aptitude in calming a feral Leatherhead, reducing him to "practically purring in her lap." She compares it to calming Raphael's tantrums, much to the boy's embarrassment.
  • For Want Of A Nail:
    • While Splinter overtrains his children after their encounter with the Shredder, here Tang Shen manages to talk him into toning it down.
    • Since Splinter is not a mutant rat in this version, the Rat King's attempted invasion lacks the same narrative stakes as "I, Monster".
    • With Splinter uninvolved, Leatherhead helped the Hamatos taking down the Rat King.
  • In Spite of a Nail: While the Hamato Brothers aren't sewer dwelling mutants in this version, they still investigate rumors of mutants and find Leatherhead, bringing him back to their home and befriending him.
  • Pragmatic Adaptation: The events of "It Came From the Depths", "I, Monster" and "New Girl in Town" are greatly minimized in this version, only covering the Hamatos befriending Leatherhead, the Rat King wreaking havoc on the surface, and Raph being the new leader taking a backseat to Leo and Miwa trying to ambush the Shredder.
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: Shredder thinks Tang Shen is dead and that Miwa is an only child. Miwa plays along to keep them all safe and to use this misunderstanding against him, a strategy that extends to the rest of the family.
  • We Can Rule Together: Shredder offers Miwa to side with him, be his daughter and help him kill her father. She obviously declines.
