Animals Lack Attributes: Miwa lampshades that one of the reasons why Leo, Raph and Mikey should wait until they get home to cure their mutation is because they have been nude since their mutation and that they would have to sneak back home in their birthday suits if they took the retromutagen at the Lair.
Handicapped Badass: While Yoshi is much slower due to having recently come out of a coma, he is still able to fend off the Shredder and his minions long enough for him and his family to escape.
Happy Ending Override: After having just defeated the Kraang and created a retromutagen to cure Raph, Mikey and Leo, the Hamatos are unable to return home because the Foot Clan were there waiting for them. Not only that, but with the increasing threat the Foot have become and their home compromised, Leo, Raph and Mikey have second thoughts on whenever to use the retromutagen on themselves or to stay turtles for the added advantage it gives them.
Vengeance Feels Empty: Splinter stresses the idea that when they face the Shredder, they have to do it for justice instead of vengeance.
Wham Episode: The episode ends with Leo, Raph and Mikey agreeing that they can handle things as humans, Miwa finding them all back to normal.
