Tropes That Appear In This Chapter:
- For Want Of A Nail: Because the Hamatos aren't mutants in this version, they don't recognize mutagen when they see it.
- Police Are Useless: While they put out a search for Kirby when the Hamatos report him missing, they completely dismiss their claims about the Kraang. While it is understandable that they don't believe them about aliens abducting him, they also dismiss the Kraang tech they bring — including a Kraang-droid's face — as unimportant.
- Recruit Teenagers with Attitude: Despite just being regular human teens in this setting, the Hamatos still take it upon themselves to rescue Kirby because they are aware that normal police have no hope of dealing with aliens and they themselves have been trained as ninjas.
- Technicolor Ninjas: When April asks why the Hamato Brothers wear conspicuous colors, Tang Shen answers that it is a mark that shows just how skilled they are in stealth in spite of it.
The fact that blue, purple, orange, red and bright green can easily be found in an urban setting full of neon signs and ads probably helps.
