Tropes in this episode include:

  • Age-Appropriate Angst: Usagi mistakes a thread of web in Ami's hair for a grey hair which leads to all the girls making a ruckus about it.
  • All Webbed Up: Some of the unnamed children who are targeted by the Amazoness Quartet are left tangled in giant webs.
  • Autobots, Rock Out!: "Sailor Team no Theme" plays when the Sailor Guardians transform in front of the bad guys.
  • But Now I Must Go: Defied. Pegasus tries to leave Chibi-Usa to find someone worthy of using his power to save everyone. Though Chibi-Usa manages to stop him by grabbing onto the Stallion Reve and begs him to stay.
  • Call-Back: While talking about running, Rei questions if Minako ever did that while on the volleyball team. Ami also mentions that she prefers swimming over running.
  • Cliffhanger: The Sailor Team notices that the sun is about to be eclipsed which drives them to head to the Dead Moon Circus to stop their madness. But before they can go, Pegasus shows up to stop them.
  • Cobweb Jungle: Nehelenia's spell involves creating spiderwebs to cover all of Tokyo. By the following day, everything in the city is covered in oversized webs.
  • Continuity Nod: The Sailor Team reunites with the same girls they met at the Coming of Age Ceremony and learn their true identities.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: The battle between the Sailor Guardians and the Amazon Quartet results in the former being utterly demolished, and almost killed, by the latter.
  • Evil Is Petty: Annoyed that the latest batch of Dream Mirrors were blanks, the Amazoness Quartet consider trashing them all. In the original, they even considered making a play house out of them.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Ami sheepishly considers herself to be a lazy person but Usagi counters with how she brought a textbook to Chibi-Usa's school marathon.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • The Sailor Guardians learn that the circus that was in town was actually the hideout for the Dead Moon Circus.
    • They also reveal their secret identities to the Amazoness Quartet after learning who they really are.
  • It's Not You, It's My Enemies: Pegasus uses this excuse saying that Chibi-Usa (who has repeatedly fought against the Dead Moon Circus countless times) will be attacked by them if he continues to stay with her.
  • Living MacGuffin: The horse tells Chibi-Usa that he must find someone who's capable of using the full power of the Golden Crystal to stop the Dead Moon.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": The Inner Girls are shocked to learn that the kids they met are actually the Amazoness Quartet.
  • Mood Whiplash: The part where Chibiusa yells at Usagi and her friends for being late to their lunch at Crown is comical and typical. But then the fun stops after Mamoru winces in pain from a spiderweb.
  • Never My Fault: Rei blames Usagi for having everyone go to the arcade which led to them being late to treat Chibi-Usa to lunch.
  • No-Sell: Ves Ves uses her Sealing Orb to absorb Jupiter and Venus' super attacks.
  • The Night That Never Ends: Nehelenia summons spiderwebs to spread across the city of Tokyo. With enough webs, the sunlight will be weakened which in turn can allow her dark magic to strengthen.
  • Please, Don't Leave Me: Not wanting to experience another friend having to leave her, Chibi-Usa grabs hold of Pegasus's Stallion Reve and cries her heart out so he can stay.
  • This Cannot Be!: Usagi hopes to herself that the carefree girls they befriended at the ceremony aren't working with the enemies.
  • Villain Opening Scene: Infuriated by the lack of a Golden Mirror in her possession, Nehelenia makes an effort to escape her mirror world. When that doesn't work, she creates a spell that involves spiderwebs spreading everywhere.
  • Voodoo Doll: Palla Palla uses a Sailor Moon doll to control the movements of the Sailor Team.
  • Weakened by the Light: The reason Nehelenia can't escape her mirror realm is because natural daylight can kill her on the spot.
  • Worf Had the Flu: Because of the spiderwebs overrunning Tokyo, Mamoru begins to have intense moments of pain.
