(CWi Episode: "Reflections of Reality")

Usagi and Chibs make the acquaintance of a wandering street urchin who dreams of becoming a professional artist. But they soon learn that his greatest obstacle (apart from his lack of income) is whether he can stay true to his dreams while complying with the demands of his clients.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Book Ends: The episode ends with Rei getting upset over how she's drawn, much like how Usagi was upset over how her picture looked.
  • Butt-Monkey:
    • Commander Zircon is bullied by the Amazon Quartet for giving them targets that lead to no horses. Jun Jun even threatens to eat him if he doesn't shape up.
    • Toge-Toge is a totally ineffectual monster who still ends up destroyed despite not doing anything, due to Cere Cere forcing her to eat Kamoi's Dream Mirror.
  • Break Them by Talking: Dissatisfied with her portrait along with the threat of the artist leaving, the Flower Master begins to discuss how she has the "wealth" to make his dreams a reality and how he'll go back to being a poor, lonely, dissatisfied artist if he doesn't redo her commission.
  • Breaking Old Trends: Instead of a pink or golden mirror, Kamoi's Dream Mirror is revealed to be grayish purple. This is the first and only time ever a victim's dream wasn't beautiful as a result of Kamoi going against his values to paint Cere Cere as she demanded to look.
  • Cold Open: The episode starts with Chibi-Usa making a chibi drawing of her mother for a school assignment only for Usagi to be offended by her wayward drawing.
  • Comically Small Bribe: Usagi only agreed to be her daughter's model because of the promise of pork buns afterwards.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Kamoi apparently refuses to paint Cere Cere at first because he thinks she's a stuck-up snob who enjoys flaunting her wealth around to prove her superiority.
  • Furry Reminder: After Usagi wonders if Luna will get in trouble for sneaking around the rich estate, Luna reminds her that she's a cat who won't get penalized for wandering the premises.
  • Harmless Villain: Toge Toge doesn’t even get a chance to so much as eat the Dream Mirror before being dusted.
Toge Toge: I didn’t even do anything.
  • Hidden Depths: The episode ends with Chibi-usa revealing the title of her drawing of Usagi to the artist.
Chibi-Usa: I call it "The Person I Look Up To the Most".
  • Hunger Causes Lethargy: The unnamed artist hasn't eaten in days which causes him to collapse while painting Usagi.
  • It's All About Me: Rei demands that her friends find the artist so he can have the golden opportunity to draw a girl as radiant and fulfilling as her.
  • Mess on a Plate: Usagi ends up burning the rice for the curry meal she had made for the artist. Thankfully, he's in no position to refuse.
Serena(Cloverway): "Here you are! Looks Bad! Tastes great!"
  • The Mirror Shows Your True Self: Discussed. The horse takes his obligatory screentime telling Chibi-Usa that mirrors are able to reveal a person's true self.
  • Moral Dilemma: Kamoi Tanaka doesn't get paid for his work since his clients believe that they're not flashy enough or truly capture what they envisioned themselves as. And while the artist could follow through with their requests, that would mean jeopardizing his worth as a true artist.
  • My Significance Sense Is Tingling: Luna could trace a strong case of negative energy coming from a large abandoned manor. It happens to be where Cere Cere lured the artist to look at his Dream Mirror.
  • Not What I Signed Up For: In the Cloverway Dub, Toge-Toge says she doesn't have to eat Kamoi's dull mirror because her contract specified she doesn't have to eat "yucky things."
  • Obnoxious Entitled Housewife: A wealthy woman criticizes the street artist for making her a portrait that doesn't capture her preferred qualities. She also has two henchwomen who agree with her every word.
  • Oh, Crap!: Cere Cere is legitimately shocked when Kamoi's mirror not only isn't golden, it's actually a grayish purple unlike all the others.
  • Plant Person: The Pink One summons Toge Toge who resembles a giant yellow rose.
  • Proper Lady: Cere Cere disguises herself as one when approaching the unsuspecting painter. She even does the Noblewoman's Laugh aswell.
  • Skewed Priorities: Cere Cere offers to attack the artist so she can get a free portrait that captures her true beauty.
  • Starving Artist: The Victim of the Week who isn't able to make ends meat because his customers refuse to pay him after they finish commissioning him.
  • Too Spicy for Yog-Sothoth: Toge Toge, the Dream Eating Rose Lemure, is too grossed out by Kamoi's Dream Mirror that she refuses to eat it.
  • We ARE Struggling Together: Cere Cere gets annoyed when her Lemure refuses to eat the victim's dream that she has to stuff it down her mouth to get rid of it.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Rei is outraged when the supposed artist isn't present at his local spot because she wanted to get a free commission out of him.
