"Oh no, Hotaru's gone missing. And Chibi-usa says her house is missing aswell. Haruka and the others are the least bit concerned. They say she's the Guardian of Destruction and they're determined to eliminate her. But she's our friend. And I won't allow them to hurt her! In the Name of the Moon, I will save her!”
Usagi Tsukino

(CWi Episode: "Next In Line")

After Chibi-usa discovers that Hotaru has disappeared, the Inner Team investigate her school Mugen Academy to find some answers that relate to her and the Death Busters. And upon learning that she's about to be replaced for her ongoing failures, Mimete pulls off one last performance to show up Professor Traitor and the Sailor Stooges.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Upon realizing how she's seconds away from being "unplugged", Mimete begs Tellu not to pull the plug and how she'll do anything she wants. To her misfortune, Tellu isn't one to listen.
  • And I Must Scream: Mimete is now trapped in the presentation room's monitor, turned into energy with no hopes of escaping.
  • Amplifier Artifact: Using Eudial's stolen Witches Electric Warp machine, Mimete is able to transfer herself onto the electric system which is said to have boosted her powers.
  • Anti-Climax: Just before Mimete can wipe out the Sailor Guardians with her amplified powers, she's killed off thanks to Tellu showing up to pull the plug on her scheme.
  • Another Dimension: The special guest at Mugen Academy gives a lecture on dimensional theory. The Death Busters themselves are revealed to be from another dimension.
  • Barely-Changed Dub Name: The Cloverway dub rechristens Tellu “Telulu”.
  • Cliffhanger: After murdering Mimete, Tellu flees to the shadows while the Inners tend to a weakened Sailor Moon. As this happens, the Outer Trio watches them from the entrance way.
  • Cooldown Hug: Setsuna gives one to Chibi-usa who's upset that her friend disappeared without a trace.
  • Cool School: According to Ami, Mugen Academy has a stellar reputation as being an advanced school that caters from students in elementary to college and provide curriculum for students that they view as gifted.
  • Deal with the Devil: During the explosion, Pharoah 90 appeared before an emotionally distressed Professor Tomoe promising to save his and Hotaru's lives if they follow through with his wicked agenda.
  • Demonic Possession: In this episode the audience learns that this is what happened to both Professor Tomoe and Hotaru, following the aforementioned Deal with the Devil.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Mimete decides to use the Electric Warp without remembering why Eudial never used it in the first place.
  • Doing Research: Mamoru looks up Professor Tomoe's file on the internet to get more information on him.
  • Double Meaning:
    • When Tellu shows herself to everyone, she chastises Mimete saying "it's not nice to steal someone else's work". She was referring not just to the blonde fangirl interfering with her upcoming assignment but also how she took Eudial's device for her own purposes.
    • After detransforming from her Super form, Sailor Moon mentions that she's tired from all the fighting. And not just with their final battle against Mimete, but also in regards to the Outer Guardians.
  • Downer Beginning: Chibi-usa begins the episode by running to Hotaru's house only to find her and everything inside to have vanished. And before getting there, she remembers the Outers' warnings about her destiny as the harbinger of destruction.
  • Evil Principal: Professor Tomoe is actually the owner of Mugen Academy who also works as a supervillain hoping to bring about the end of days.
  • Face Framed in Shadow: Tellu's face is covered in shadows throughout the episode.
  • Flashback Nightmare: While sleeping in her chamber, Hotaru thinks back to the great accident that took the lives of everyone in the research facility except her and her father.
  • Flawed Prototype: The reason why Eudial never used the Witches Electric Warp device is because anyone can get trapped in the monitor for eternity if the machine's power cord was unplugged.
  • Funny Background Event: While snooping around Mugen Academy as Sergei Asimov gives his presentation, Minako has to pull on a distracted Usagi to get her to focus on the mission.
  • Green-Skinned Space Babe: Bright pink skin in this case, but U-Pasokon is played this way, being obviously inhuman but easy on the eyes. Her target, Sergei Asimov, even gets a Crush Blush upon getting attacked by her.
  • Hidden Wire: Mimete planted a device in Tomoe's office so she can overhear his private conversations.
  • Identity Impersonator: After learning that she's about to be replaced by Tellu, Mimete calls her pretending to be Professor Tomoe to get her to stand down while giving the blonde witch extra time for her comeback.
  • The Infiltration:
    • Haruka and Michiru decided to enroll in Mugen Academy to learn about the strange phenomena that would occur on a regular basis.
    • The Inner girls try to do this by snooping around the school for information.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Usagi gets into a rant when she sees her daughter soaking wet and insists on drying her. But Mamoru can tell that Chibiusa is still emotionally upset over her friend being gone and shouldn't be scolded right now.
  • Ironic Echo: In the Cloverway Dub, Tellulu's Pre-Mortem One-Liner is using Mimet's farewell against her.
    Tellulu: Ta-ta Mimet.
  • Karmic Death: Mimete became the chief executive by murdering Eudial. So it's appropriate that a machine belonging to Eudial (which Mimete stole) would be instrumental in her demise.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": The Inner Team has this reaction after Mimete appears on screen.
  • Mustache Vandalism: Mimete has a photo of Eudial which she desecrated using a poorly drawn mustache, eyebrows and snail eyes.
  • My Significance Sense Is Tingling: Rei can tell that there's negative energy coming from the academy upon their arrival.
  • Nothing Is the Same Anymore: Mimete is Killed Off for Real and replaced by a new witch.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: While Makoto normally has no issue with standing up to scary men twice her size, she's petrified when she encounters an intimidating security guard.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: Tellu instantly picks up that her superior's call was off based on the way he signed off. In the Cloverway Dub, she picks up on him saying "Ta-ta", something only Mimet would say.
  • Pest Controller: U-Pasokon can summon a couple dozen of computer mice that turn into vicious rats to attack the Sailor Guardians.
  • The Reveal: The episode shows how Professor Tomoe became the Mad Scientist he is today and how he became affiliated with the Death Busters.
  • Shock and Awe: Mimete resorts to tasering a security guard in order to make her final mission a success.
  • Something Only They Would Say: In the Cloverway Dub, Tellu immediately suspects something is up when she hears "Dr. Tomoe" sign off with "Ta-ta" on the phone call. She correctly deduces that it was Mimet impersonating him with Eugeal's voice machine.
Telulu(Cloverway): Did he just say, "ta-ta"?
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: Setsuna magically appears behind Chibiusa while inside the abandoned Tomoe mansion.
  • This Is Unforgivable!: Chibi-usa warns Setsuna that she'll never forgive her if she hurts Hotaru.
  • Villainous Rescue: Tellu appears to pull the plug on Mimete which is a huge relief for the Guardians who were worn out from their recent fight.
  • Vocal Dissonance: In the Cloverway dub, the being making a Faustian pact with Dr. Tomoe sounds more like Santa Claus than a harbinger of doom.
