An Aesop: Being a hero isn't always about slaying the monster, but about protecting the innocent.
Mama Bear: Or rather, Mama Panda Bear. When a ferocious wolf chases the baby panda and the Miao Siblings up a tree, they try to scare it away by imitating a bear growl. But that's not necessary: it's scared off by the baby panda's mother.
What the Hell, Hero?: At the conclusion of the chase, the baby panda calls out Dongwa on using him as the subject of his monster hunt, to the point where he's been chased far from home. This convinces Dongwa he's in the wrong and he and his sisters have to make amends.
Kick the Dog: Played with. This is a variation where the dogs are the kicker. They didn't have to destroy the Magistrate's lantern, but they do it to spite the Miao siblings.
