Recap / SWATS 02 E 06 Never Again

Go To

Four armed robbers have been stealing diamonds from Israeli gangsters in LA. They're highly trained, well armed and wear body armor, enough to give the team a run for their money. However, they're not who SWAT expect, having different motives than just greed as well.

Examples:

  • Action Girl: The robbers are all highly trained female Israeli military veterans who show their skills throughout the episode, even proving worthy opponents of the SWAT team.
  • Amazon Brigade: All of the robbers turn out to be women. Due to their skill, Deacon and Hondo openly express admiration for them. They also had been in an all-female Israeli military unit together, which is how they'd acquired their skills.
  • Badass Israeli: The diamond robbers are all Israeli military veterans, using their skills against a criminal syndicate. As the syndicate is also Israeli, many are badasses too.
  • From Camouflage to Criminal: The robbers turn out to be a group of female Israeli military veterans using their skills against an Israeli criminal syndicate. All of the team are very impressed by them.
  • Heroic BSoD: Hondo goes through one of these briefly after realising the robber he fatally shot was a woman.
  • Kosher Nostra: The targets of the diamond robbers are an Israeli criminal syndicate that is operating in both the US and Israel.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Chris is revealed to be dating Kira, a woman with long hair and traditionally feminine clothing. However, like Chris she's bisexual.
  • Masculine–Feminine Gay Couple: Chris, a fairly butch woman, is dating Kira, who's quite femme. In an unusual example, both are bisexual.
  • Polyamory: Kira invites Chris to be the "third" in her relationship with her fiance. Chris is unsure about the idea.
  • Revenge: The diamond robbers turn out to be the daughters of people coerced into smuggling diamonds for a criminal syndicate, who then murdered them afterwards as "loose ends". Because of that, they robbed the syndicate in retaliation.
  • Samus Is a Girl: All the diamond robbers wear body armor which conceals them completely, so the team are surprised to learn they're women.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: Chris is good-looking, though she normally wears utilitarian work clothes or fairly ordinary ones when off duty. Here, she's shown in a highly flattering black spaghetti strap top that's quite revealing, and really shines.
  • Tattooed Crook: The robbers each sport a tattoo in Hebrew on their chest saying "Never Again". Deacon and Chris note it's odd as tattooing isn't allowed in Judaism and will even get you excluded from a Jewish traditional cemetery, but they clearly didn't care. Since it denoted a vow which they made against their parents' murderers, this isn't too surprising.note
  • Worthy Opponent: Hondo and Deacon first, then the rest of the team all consider the robbers this, being highly skilled military veterans.
  • Wouldn't Hit a Girl: Hondo is disturbed to learn the robber he killed is a woman. It stems from his upbringing, as he'd been taught to protect women. Deacon reassures him that she was an armed suspect firing on them, and he did the right thing.
Deacon: Lying on that coroner's table, she might have looked like the girl next door, but you didn't shoot a woman, Hondo. You shot a killer.
