  • Badass Boast: Mario.
    SMG4: Hey! What's the situation?
Boopkins: None of us can get past this point! It's too heavily armed and there's barbed wire everywhere!
    (Mario charges off)
SMG4:OH WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!
    Mario: It's alright! Mario's got 4 IQ.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Bob shows up just in the nick of time to finish off a wounded anime character who was looking to get revenge on Swagmaster.
  • Birds of a Feather: Despite having previously called his voice annoying, Bob gets along pretty easily with Swagmaster.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: Even for his standards, Mario displays this in spades.
  • Character Death: Desti is stabbed through the heart.
  • Darker and Edgier: Easily the darkest episode of the Anime Arc and one of the darkest SMG4 episodes ever. The episode proves very early on that it isn't playing around by having Chris very nearly get Killed Off for Real and showing Meggy practically enduring Cold-Blooded Torture from having her ink forcibly sucked out. What takes the cake, however, is the end of the episode, which has Desti fatally wounded onscreen, marking the first time since 2013's "tale of a bob-omb" that a death in the series has been taken 100% seriously. To cement this, no music plays during the credits, with the background colors muted.
  • Darkest Hour: Things don’t like they can get any bleaker for our heroes. Francis has murdered Desti and he still has the pen. And now it looks like Francis will capture the heroes.
  • It's All My Fault: Axol initially refuses to help himself and Desti get past Mewtwo, stating this as his reason during his brief Heroic BSoD, while also saying that he can't help anyone without Inkweaver. Desti snaps him out of it by pointing out that Meggy wouldn't give up if she was the one in this situation while reassuring that if he's so great he can get them out of his jam without it.
  • Internal Reveal: The rest of the gang discover that Francis is the real mastermind behind the Inkling disappearances, and not Axol.
  • Laughing Mad: Francis lets out a psychopathic laugh when he has Desti killed by one of his creations.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": The casts appropriate reaction to Desti getting impaled through her torso.
  • Mood Whiplash:
    • During the huge battle, Chris and Swagmaster manage to hilariously take out Dawn with a rocket launcher. This is immediately followed by Chris getting near-fatally wounded by a bullet.
    • At the end of the episode, the gang manages to take out Sephiroth with some teamwork. As everyone is celebrating, Desti is suddenly fatally impaled by another Sephiroth.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Swagmaster does not take it well when Chris is nearly killed by the anime characters.
  • Sanity Slippage: That laugh that Francis gives at the end shows just how insane he has become.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The opening pays a direct homage to the "Storming the Omaha Beach" scene from Saving Private Ryan.
    • Boopkins utters the famous "War never changes" opening from the Fallout series.
    • Desti isn't the first person to be impaled by Sephiroth in dramatic fashion.
  • Something We Forgot: Played brutally straight when the main cast's laser focused No-Holds-Barred Beatdown on replica Sephiroth causes them to forget that Francis still had the Inkweaver and uses to make another one while everyone is distracted.
Francis: You bakas, Did you forget about me and this pen!?
  • Wham Shot: Desti getting impaled through the chest, the first time a major character has ever been Killed Off for Real in the series.
