- Action Bomb: Bobby and King Bob-omb both explode in the episode, but the former comes back after exploding.
- The Bully: Bowser Jr. and his "Giga Koopa" soccer team aren't about to let anyone who isn't on their team play in "their" field.
- Chekhov's Gun: SMG4's pingas cannon is what prevents Bowser Jr.'s team from winning in the end.
- Death Is a Slap on the Wrist: Bobby the Bob-omb explodes twice in the episode yet comes back every time.
- Defeat by Modesty: When Mario tries to convince Bowser Jr. to share the field, Bowser Jr. rips off Mario's clothes. Strangely, Mario actually bursts in tears and runs away, even though he regularly strips in public.

Hilarious in Hindsight: Five years after this video was released, Paper Mario: The Origami King introduces a Bob-omb partner nicknamed Bobby. This has not gone unnoticed by SMG4 fans. - Oh, Crap!: After being tricked with the fake ball, Mario has this when he hears "YEAH TOAST!" realizing that Toast Guy is slowly kicking the ball to the goal.
- Only Sane Man: Mario's this to the teammates that he recruited. Oddly, this includes SMG4, who's usually the one who fits this trope.
- Serial Escalation: What started out as a normal soccer game gets out of control when Wario eats the soccer ball and poops it out of the field, leading to a race to be the first to get the ball. Then it turns out that the ball was a decoy.
- Smart Ball: Oddly, Mario holds this for nearly the whole video. Notably, he never uses his "derp eyes" at any point.
- Took a Level in Kindness: In this episode, Mario's perfectly willing to help Goombs and Bobby get their soccer field back, and before that, he actually tries to teach the bullies that it's good to share.
