Recap / Rune Scape Nomads Elegy

Go To

The mysterious and sinister mage Nomad may have been stopped from stealing power from the Soul Wars, but he wasn't quite killed- and now he's back for more. This time, he's trying to harness energy from all the deceased souls in Gielinor. In this new quest, travel to the afterlife, ally with the dead, lay siege to his fortress in the Underworld and stop this madness in its tracks!

But your path will not be a set one. Do you have what it takes to make some difficult choices? And what connection will your decisions have on Sliske's Scoreboard and that nefarious Mahjarrat's mad game? There's only one way to find out...

This quest contains the following tropes:

  • The Atoner: Remorseful of her actions following her extreme attempts to stop the Elder Gods from awakening and annihilating Gielinor, Xenia agrees to help you with the siege against Nomad in the Underworld.
  • Big Bad: Nomad; it's in the title.
  • Diabolus ex Machina: Sliske doesn't actually have much to do on the quest, but he drops in at the end to keep you from dealing with Nomad yourself, which gives you an extra headache to deal with in a later quest.
  • Eldritch Abomination: The artificial god Gielinor is an amalgamation of souls collected from the underworld by Nomad, and resembles a grotesque Guthix.
  • Killed Off for Real: Sliske gives you the option to either spare Nomad or kill him off. Regardless of your choice, Sliske will take him away.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: "Gielinor" is introduced in this quest and is also annihilated by Death/Icthlarin in the climax.
