Recap / Rune Scape Kings Ransom

Go To

The Sinclair family has left their mansion, and King Arthur and his knights have disappeared. The guards suspect that these two events are connected, but are hobbled by the law- they can't search the mansion or Camelot without proper permission. Of course, you aren't bound by Seers' Village law, so you can go investigate on their own.

Searching the house will reveal that the Sinclairs left not intending to come back, their departure had something to do with Camelot, and they're in league with the Black Knights (the only representatives of the organization in Kandarin are in service to Morgan Le Fay). To get into Camelot, you'll need Anna's cooperation, and to get Anna's cooperation, you'll have to defend her from the charge of murdering Lord Sinclair. Even if Anna was not the subject identified in Murder Mystery, it will be treated as if it was her. You have to do it because Anna drove away all other potential defence lawyers by being a complete Spoiled Brat.

Defend Anna correctly, and she'll tell you about a secret passage into Camelot Castle. If you take it, you'll find that it's an ambush by the Sinclair kids working with Morgan Le Fay to get King Arthur and his court out of the way. You see, the Sinclair family once lived in Camelot castle, until Arthur showed up. Lord Sinclair agreed that Arthur had more need of the castle than he did and moved to Sinclair Mansion, but his kids were furious and plotted to return. They killed their father, and now they've imprisoned Merlin and the knights, stolen the Holy Grail, and turned Arthur into a statue. Once they have you, they imprison you with the others.

You, of course, promptly break out with all the knights, help Merlin get out and scare the Sinclairs away from the castle, find the Holy Grail, and break Arthur out of his stone prison. Congratulations, quest complete!

Tropes

  • Amoral Attorney: The only reason the player takes Anna's case is to find an alternative way into Camelot. They do this even if the player's version of "Murder Mystery" had Anna as the murderer.
  • Courtroom Episode: The player acts as Anna Sinclair's defence lawyer for the second part of the quest.
  • Dirty Coward: The Sinclair siblings make a break for it and return to their manor once Merlin returns to Camelot and bluffs that he's going to turn them into frogs. Taking Camelot through deceit was the only way they could manage to take down the Knights of the Round Table.
  • End of an Era: The final quest released in the "2" era.
  • Good Lawyers, Good Clients: Averted. Even if the player's version of "Murder Mystery" didn't have Anna as the murderer, the Sinclair siblings were all involved in some way in their father's death and the removal of the Knights of the Round Table from Camelot, Anna included.
  • The Mole: Anna was left in the courthouse as a patsy for the player, so that Morgan Le Fay and the Sinclairs can ambush them as they tried to sneak into Camelot.
