Just runaway things.
"They just turned us into America's Most Wanted."
Chase

The Runaways face off with their parents, but they realize they are in over their heads when Jonah unexpectedly arrives with a new game plan.

  • Batman Gambit: Geoffrey notes early on that they can't call the police, because that will just make the kids think they're in trouble. In the end, he calls the police since he knows the kids will be safer running away from them.
  • Beam-O-War: Karolina counters Jonah's beams of light with some of her own.
  • The Beard: Dale, having learned of Leslie's relationship with Jonah, refers to Frank as her beard.
  • Bittersweet Ending: The group wind up framed for Destiny's murder and kidnapping Molly, Frank has betrayed everyone to continue working with Jonah to heal Victor, and it's implied that the destruction of Los Angeles is growing closer because of PRIDE's efforts. On the brighter side all of PRIDE has turned against Jonah and plan to kill him and they're investigating what they're really digging for, meaning there's a chance they could discover the blind fault and avert the destruction of L.A.
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: Tina would very much like to kill Leslie for her role in Amy's death, but won't do so since Leslie is the conspiring parents' best shot at getting to Jonah.
  • Enemy Mine: Alex gets help from Darius by pointing out that they're both against Alex's father.
  • Fearful Symmetry: During Karolina and Jonah's Beam-O-War, there is a shot of them facing off in this manner.
  • Frame-Up: The Runaways are implicated in the death of Destiny Gonzales, as well as accused of kidnapping Molly.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Tina reveals to the rest of PRIDE that Leslie was the one who killed Alice and Gene Hernandez.
    • The PRIDE also discover the existence of Old Lace.
Stacey: Yeah, I meant to bring you up to speed on that...
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: Jonah reveals to Karolina that he's her father. As he points out, she had already figured it out after their fight early in the episode.
  • Must Have Caffeine: Yawn's Vaughn's typical morning drink is six shots of espresso.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: The parents are utterly horrified when they see Jonah attacking the kids. Leslie in particular looks like she's just inches away from a breakdown, and Geoffrey tries to outright threaten Jonah if he hurts Alex.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Alex's shirt and Karolina's outfit are taken almost directly from the comics and the other outfits all resemble outfits from the comics.
    • Gert calls Old Lace "The Old Lace to my Arsenic", referencing her codename in the comics, which itself is a shoutout to the play Arsenic and Old Lace
    • The end result of the episode (The Runaways on the run, framed by PRIDE for the murder of a girl who was used as a Human Sacrifice) is essentially the same as the ending of the first Runaways comic arc.
  • No-Sell: The Fistigons are unable to break through the shield Tina raises with the Staff of One. Karolina's light blast is able to force PRIDE to recoil a little, but in the end even that can't break through.
  • The Reveal:
    • Amy's hacking of Wizard triggered alarms that resulted in Leslie and Jonah believing she had discovered PRIDE's secrets and then Jonah murdering her.
    • Jonah is digging for something that is actually alive.
  • The Runaway: True to the title, the six kids become this, taking off after the showdown with their parents and subsequently going off the grid when Detective Flores frames them for the murder of Destiny Gonzalez.
  • Season Finale: Of Season One.
  • Shoo the Dog: Gert has to tell Old Lace to stay away, since there's no way they can hide a dinosaur for a reasonable length of time. Subverted when Lace follows them to the bus station, and ends up running with them when they're framed for murder.
  • Unwitting Pawn: It finally dawns on the Pride that Jonah has been playing them for suckers and there's no "renewable energy source'' in the dig site but something far more dangerous.
