Recap / Rugrats S 9 E 12 The Bravliest Baby Gimme An A

Go To

The twelfth episode of the ninth season of Rugrats (1991).

The Bravliest Baby

After slipping at the playground during a trek up "Mount Neverest", Tommy loses his courage and the others must help him recover after Angelica challenges them to see who's the "bravilest".

Gimme an "A"

Didi takes the babies to her collage to participate as test subjects for her Child Development experiment, but when they don't cooperate and she worries she won't get an A, the babies set out to find an A for her.

"The Bravilest Baby" provides examples of:

  • Borrowed Catchphrase: When Kimi wants to climb back up Mt. Everest, Tommy tells her, "I don't think that's such a good idea." Chuckie then says that he was just about to say that.
  • Face Your Fears: What Tommy had to learn.
  • Imagine Spot: The babies have several in this episode, including ones where they climb Mt. Everest.
  • Malaproper: The babies mispronounce Mt. Everest as "Mt. Neverest".
  • Potty Emergency: One of the excuses Tommy makes to avoid climbing up Mt. Everest is that he needs to go potty. Phil points out to Tommy that he's wearing a diaper and could just use it if he really needs to go.

"Gimmie an "A"" provides examples of:

  • Assumed Win: The babies encounter a student who thinks she got an A on her test, only to realize she took the wrong paper.
  • Getting the Baby to Sleep: Didi tries to get the babies to fall asleep with a musical toy of a pig in pajamas.
  • Go-to-Sleep Ending: The episode ends with the babies zonking out in the simulator room after all the fun they had.
  • Literal-Minded: Tommy doesn't understand the concept of "getting an A", thus the babies literally try to find an A for Didi.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: "LUNCH IS A HUMAN RIGHT!"
  • Noodle Incident: When Chas drops Chuckie and Kimi off at Tommy's house, he brings up the time Chuckie put a pickle in his VCR to Didi.
  • Rule of Three: The babies' places to find an A for Didi are a group of protesters, someone who thinks she got an A, and cheerleaders at a pep rally.
