Tropes for this episode include:

  • All for Nothing: When Tsurara and Ageha see what became of the boy they fought over in school, they both agree they dodged and bullet and have essentially been fighting (and projecting that fight onto their kids) over nothing.
  • Bruiser with a Soft Center: Saizo who was the first monster Moka fought in the first season and has been a grump since, acts like a kindergartener excited to see his parents when they show up for Parent's Day.
  • Fake Relationship: Both Mizore and Kurumu told their mothers that Tsukune was their boyfriend (or in Kurumu's case, fiancé) and try to get Tsukune to play along.
  • Future Loser: Downplayed. When they were in school, Tsurara and Ageha were fighting over an attractive boy and they have not stopped fighting since. By the end of the episode, they get to see Gonzo after all of these years and he is now fat, bald and considerably less handsome. Apart from that, he doesn't seem poorly well-off, having married with a kid.
  • Generation Xerox: Tsurara and Ageha's rivalry is eerily similar to their daughters, especially considering it was over a boy.
  • Hypocrite: To further sell the Fake Relationship narrative, Mizore tells her mother that Moka is Tsukune's "super-clingy groupie girl" who's "always spying on Tsukune like some creepy stalker," a description that fits herself better.
  • Kick the Dog: When Moka tells Tsukune that she wants to spend time with Koko since their parents aren't coming, Kokoa responds by hitting Tsukune with a mace and yells at Moka.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: It was Tsurara and Ageha fighting over Gonzo that turned him off of both of them in the first place. Considering what became of him years later, perhaps it was for the best.
  • Not Now, Kiddo: By the time Kurumu and Mizore confess the truth, their mothers are too into their fighting to really notice or care.
  • Really Gets Around: When Ageha meets Tsukune, she propositions him and offers to share him with Kurumu. Keep in mind that she thinks he's her daughter's fiancé.
  • Stage Mom: While they do seem to be invested in their respective daughter's future with Tsukune to a point, Tsurara and Ageha's pushing are clearly more about settling the score against each other through them.
