After managing to save herself from the slave merchant, Flum takes Milkit with her in an attempt to start a new life in the capital. The only means that a slave can make a living is to be an adventurer.

- Adaptational Nice Guy: Y'lla is still a jerk in the manga adaptation, but she is far less hostile toward Flum, and she feels bad about Flum and Milkit potentially getting killed in their so called 'F Rank Assignment'.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Dein seems like a decent guy who helps Flum get her first job. However, it turns out the job he got them was a D Rank assignment not an F Rank. He gives them difficult assignment knowing it would likely get them killed, so it is basically the equivalent of attempted murder simply because it entertains him.
- Establishing Character Moment: Y'lla quickly establishes herself as a lazy bum of a receptionist while Dein comes across as a nice guy who is quite dasterdly.
- Kick the Dog: People in the Capital are quick to mistreat Flum and Milkit due to their status as 'slaves'.
