Always Be Brownies

  • Call-Back: Splinter dons his "Randall" disguise while helping out April.
  • Child Soldiers: The Foot Recruit has turned a whole girl scout troop into this trope.
  • Cliffhanger: Like with Meat Sweats, the Foot Recruit is abducted by the shadowy figure.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: The Foot Recruit reveals her Evil Plan to infiltrate high places by selling brownies. When Splinter questions how long this would take, she does some research and realizes it would take 10 years.
  • Failure Montage: We see a series of failed clubs April tried to head, but all ended poorly. For added humor, she says all those failed attempts were on Tuesday alone.
  • Improbable Weapon User: April cuts through here bonds with a walnut of all things and then uses that same walnut to attack her captors.
  • Infomercial: Splinter reveals he was in some of these back when he was Lou Jitsu.
  • Mix-and-Match Weapon: One of the girl scouts uses a baseball bat that has the spikes of a mace with the ball and chain of a flail.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Splinter points out how April and the Foot Recruit both feel like failures. When he brings this up in front of both of them, they deny it.
  • Skewed Priorities: The Foot Recruit offers to let Splinter while she keeps the money April made. April hesitates on the offer, much to Splinter's annoyance.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Splinter gives this speech to both April and the Foot Recruit.

Mystery Meat

  • Blatant Lies:
    • Draxum claims he doesn't know why there was an oozesquito in his kitchen. He caves in when Mikey and April glare at him.
    • Mikey claims he was saving the city during his call with April. She rightfully calls him out on the obvious fact he and Raph were go-karting.
  • Delinquent Hair: Mikey sports a huge pompadour in the episode.
  • Hungry Menace: Sloppy Joseph eats any food he finds, growing bigger in the process.
  • Out of Focus: The episode mainly focuses on April and Draxum, especially the latter as he starts to embrace his position as head of the cafeteria.
  • Tears of Joy: Draxum comically sheds these when he sees a statue of fish sticks built in his honor.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: For some reason, the cafeteria superintendent revokes Draxum’s award after he saved her and the other cafeteria workers from Sloppy Joseph.
