Rick and Morty Episode: The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy

Loud House Episode:Suite and Sour

  • Adaptational Context Change:
    • Why the heck would the Loud siblings conspire with Risotto to take Rick out the way Jerry did just to have Beth for himself? The worst that they ever did on Rick so far is contemplating turning him to the Federation.
    • The Loud Children are instead taken to the alien resort from "The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy" instead of a Royal Woods spa, with Rick as their guardian instead of their parents. Therefore, the bulk of the original Loud House episode is repurposed to mix with the Rick and Morty one. Rick still points out that Rita and Lynn Sr. were kicked out for skinny dipping in the end.
    • Lynn is absent, because of "Lynner Takes The Stone"
  • Adaptational Location Change: The alien resort from "The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy" replaces the Royal Woods spa in "Suite and Sour" for the duration of the episode.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: The reason Rick brought the Loud kids to the alien resort was because he genuinely wants them to enjoy their time, whereas in the original, Rick begrudgingly only brings Jerry there to bolster his self-esteem, still clearly resenting Jerry.
  • Adapted Out: The Summer subplot. Since Lori, who usually fills in for Summer and sometimes Morty, went with Rick in the resort and Bobby is too much of a faithful nice guy to ditch Lori, it never happens.
  • Lighter and Softer: Downplayed. It still retains the typical Rick and Morty level of violence, except that the Summer subplot was omitted due to 1.) The subject's profuse obscenities prevented it from meshing with The Loud House's upbeat themes, and 2.) Lori, who usually assumes Summer's role, accompanied her siblings and Rick for their vacation, and that Bobby is nothing like Ethan. Bonus points for the resort announcer preventing the alien sister's death by either his brother, Lola and Lana's guns.
  • Mood Whiplash: Just moments upon gawking at the wondrous alien resort, Lana gets shot in the chest, to her siblings' horror... then she is resurrected by the immortality shield. Lori can't stomach the ordeal at all.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Rick and Lori go off on each other near the end of the chapter; Rick chastises Lori for her arrogance and being a Control Freak, pointing out that she always has to be the one in control and, if not, she willingly makes others look bad so that she could feel better about herself. Lori fires back by pointing out that Rick is exactly like her by using dominance tactics to remain in power (i.e., Lori's status as the oldest sibling and Rick's intelligence).
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Rather than get shot at by her brother like in canon, or Lana and Lola, the alien sister survives because an announcer of the resort warned everyone of the immortality field's deactivation.
