Akio and Utena go on a date to an amusement park while the previous duels are revisited.
"The Prince Who Runs Through the Night" provides examples of:
- Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick: More or less literally — Utena uncharacteristically babbles about meal prep for tomorrow's lunch while she and Akio have sex. The asparagus sandwich may never be the same.
- Phone-in Game Shows: Akio is seen participating in one throughout the episode, answering on his car's phone. The questions are made by who's heavily implied to be the Shadow Girls and they ask rather obtuse questions, related to the show's symbolism. Akio ends up never answering the questions, because before doing so something else comes up and he has to hang up on the Shadow Girls.
- P.O.V. Cam: Almost every scene with Utena in this episode is shown from a first-person point of view as Utena speaks directly to the camera. This makes the sex scene with her more disturbing, as it's revealed towards the end that these scenes are from Akio's perspective.
- Questionable Consent: While according to Utena, it's something they did, together, it's still heavily implied that Akio coerced her into having sex with him and there are moments where she clearly looks uncomfortable while it happens.
- Recap Episode: Don't think it is unimportant, however!
- Wham Episode: Akio has sex with/rapes Utena.
