Nanami discovers that she and Touga are not blood-related which causes her worldview to come crumbling down.
"Her Tragedy" provides examples of:
- Armor-Piercing Response: Nanami's lackeys seriously rattle her when they explain it's impossible for Touga to have Type A blood if everyone else in their family is Type B.
- Evil Is Petty: Nanami seems to feel good about telling the girls that call Touga's phone that he dumped them, at first.
- Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: Nanami gets increasingly annoyed at her posse's questions about her blood type and her brother's blood type, even when they point out it's impossible for everyone in their family to be Type B except for Touga. When Nanami starts screaming that she and Touga are a pair of wonderful, talented, popular, beautiful siblings even if they don't have the same blood, it suddenly sinks in for her that they might not be related after all.
- Humiliation Conga: Nanami goes through this the entire episode until she finally snaps.
- Not Blood Siblings: Inverted; Nanami is most definitely not pleased to find that she and Touga aren't related by blood, since it means they weren't as close as she thought they were.
- Personality Blood Types: This serves as a plot point in Nanami's discover about Touga's adoption. When she states to her Girl Posse that both her parents and herself have type B blood, and that Touga's blood type is A, they explain to Nanami that two blood type B parents can't have a blood A child, which leads Nanami to the painful conclusion that Touga is adopted and that he isn't her biological brother.
- Phoneaholic Teenager: Touga is implied to be this, despite his phone not coming up much before and after this episode. While Touga is in the shower, Nanami steals his cell phone and she starts receiving phone calls from girls Touga is flirting or sleeping with, one after the other.
- Primal Scene: Nanami walks in on Akio and Anthy.
- The Reveal: Touga reveals that he was adopted.
- Troll: When Touga is about to go to the bathroom to have a shower, he asks Nanami if she wants to join him. He then tells her he was just kidding, and it's left implied he asked this just to mess with Nanami's head.
- Vengeance Feels Empty: At first, Nanami feels good about breaking the hearts of the girls that are chasing after Touga by telling them by the phone that he dumped them. But the look on her face afterwards and the way she doesn't try this anymore after she learns that she and Touga are not related by blood implies this.
- Villainous Breakdown: Nanami completely snaps after catching Akio and Anthy together.
- Wham Shot: Nanami catches Akio and Anthy having sex.
