Tropes

  • A Hell of a Time: The Rockstar Underworld looks like your typical Fire and Brimstone Hell but it's actually a giant concert venue where the occupants play music and party for eternity.
  • Bowdlerization: In what can only be described as the most awkward attempt at censoring death since the covering up of Duke's death in the animated G.I. Joe movie back in the 1980s, the line "We have received confirmation that American icon, Bruce Rock, has died after tragically falling off a five foot stage," was changed to "Uh, this just in - American icon, Bruce Rock, has just stopped being alive after falling off a five foot stage" when this episode aired in the UK.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: When a rocker politely asks a bouncer to borrow his pen, the bouncer throws him up to the ceiling where said rocker explodes.
  • Dreadful Musician: The Bouncer of the Rock and Roll Underworld force Mordecai, Rigby, and Benson to play a show to prove that they aren't fake rock stars. They end up sucking. Justified as Rigby is on keys (he plays guitar) and Benson is on guitar (he plays drums).
  • Made of Explodium: The poor, unfortunate rocker that asks the bouncer for his pen.
  • Never My Fault: Refreshingly averted. Normally, Benson would blame Mordecai and Rigby for anything he may have accidentally screwed up, but here he takes all the blame for the careless destruction of Bruce Rock's guitar (though he still gets Mordecai and Rigby to help them).
  • Noodle Incident: Muscle Man apparently hung out with, or was involved in an incident with one of Bruce Rock's roadies outside Dooley's. Because of this, Muscle Man is able to convince him to get Benson, Mordecai and Rigby into one of Bruce's shows without getting tickets, and for him to sign the guitar to replace it shortly afterwards.
  • Not So Above It All: After warning Mordecai and Rigby not to touch anything, Benson gets overly excited when he sees a signed Bruce Rock guitar, and wrecks it by accident when messing around with it.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: After everyone went through all the trouble of replacing the guitar out of fear of Mr. Maellard discovering it, Maellard himself gleefully smashes it to bits for shits and giggles.
Mr. Maellard: Ah, it's good to be rich.
  • Tempting Fate: Benson is worked that Mordecai and Rigby want to ask the bouncer for his pen, but Mordecai says it could not hurt to ask him. Guess what happens next?
