Test Your Might

Wash's pep talk with the Reds goes badly, and Church's group take the temple's test.

Tropes

  • Beat Without a "But": Washington tries to reassure the Reds after learning that they're going to be on the front lines, but can't think of anything to say.
Washington: Well... look on the bright side!
    [Silence]
Grif: You know, if you say that, you're supposed to follow it up with the bright side!
    Washington: [looking down] I know.
  • Continuity Nod: The Reds continue their "terrible superpower" discussion from last season, with Sarge fully agreeing with Simmons that the ability to fly North and only North will only lead to more problems than it solves.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: When Caboose makes one of his stupid comments, Church groans, "Jeez, that empty-headed little...wait a minute. 'Empty head'." and realizes that Caboose might have 'mental clarity' required to be a True Warrior.
  • Fearless Fool: Caboose ends up passing the 'mental clarity' trial of being a True Warrior because he is one. There were no negative thoughts in his mind for the alien AI to use against him.
Alien Voice: Your mind lacks fear. Doubt is non-existent. Completely absent of negativity.
  • Go, Ye Heroes, Go and Die: Washington's attempted pep talk is riddled with sentimentalities about how they're some of the finest soldiers he's ever known- which Grif almost immediately realizes is a front for Wash not expecting them to return alive.
  • Lampshade Hanging: After returning to the gas station once again on their way to attack Crash Site Alpha, Grif points out "there's like three places to go on the whole planet".
  • Oh, Crap!: The Reds, when they realize that Wash thinks they're going to die in the attack on Crash Site Alpha.
  • Parrot Exposition: Everyone's reaction when Caboose reveals what he named the Alien AI.
Caboose: Yes. And that is why I have named him: Santa.
    Carolina: ...Santa.
    Caboose: Santa.
    Tucker: Santa?
    Caboose: Yes. Santa.
    Santa: Santa.
  • Shaped Like Itself: When Epsilon is complaining about how vague the requirements for a True Warrior are and moans what it even means, Caboose states he thinks it is the opposite of a "False Warrior".
