Tropes
- Call-Back: Tucker's sword being a key is important for the first time since Season 4.
- Continuity Nod: Caboose and Sarge brief recreate the opening moments of the series, standing atop a base and repeating what Simmons and Grif said, before Caboose quickly spaces out.
- Enemy Mine: The Federal and New Republic soldiers team up to gang-beat Grif, when they reach their limit on Wash forcing them to run laps because of Grif's slacking off.
- Five-Second Foreshadowing: One of the alien words Dr. Grey examines seems to say "weapon" or "key"...just moments before Tucker's alien sword activates the temple.
- Ironic Echo Cut: After dealing with Donut screwing around, a New Republic soldier groans, "I bet the Feds never had to put up with this." Cut to Tucker, also screwing around, while Dr. Grey sighs, "I bet the rebels never had to put up with this."
- Noodle Incident: Dr. Grey says she found out it was safer to give Freckles full control of the rifle rather than Caboose because she gave Caboose the rifle for about five seconds. All she says after that is "what a busy day at the hospital that turned out to be".
- Not Now, Kiddo: When Tucker notices a hologram appearing, he tries to alert Dr. Grey, but she brushes him off, wanting to focus on the alien script.
- Punctuated Pounding: At the end of the episode when Tucker tells the alien voice "What's up?" and it takes away all the alien weapons, Sarge tackles Tucker to the ground and starts punching him while he's down while yelling at him.Sarge: When the voice! Of alien! Jesus! Calls down to you! You do not! Respond with 'what’s up'!
- Stuff Blowing Up: As a result of the alien tower activating, all of the alien weapons start going berserk and exploding.
- Team Killer: Defied with Caboose. Freckles now has full control of Caboose's rifle in order to prevent Caboose from harming or potentially killing anymore of his teammates. If the trigger is pulled the gun just makes a fun party noise and shoots confetti.
