Recap / Recess S 6 E 3 League Of Randalls

Go To

Having lost his edge, Randall recruits the Ashleys' little brothers to snitch on the playground.

Tropes:

  • An Aesop: As the main six point out to the Tylers, snitching hurts everyone (and not just those who get snitched on). A little zigzagged with Randall as he continues on with his snitching, though he admits that it's better to fly solo than recruiting others to do his dirty work for him, something which the gang finds it to be fair.
  • Catchphrase: Like how their older sisters say "Scandalous!," the Tylers say "Notorious!" This trope is lampshaded by Randall when he asks them if everyone in their families has a catchphrase.
  • Cool Boat: Tyler T. has a miniature yacht that's small enough to fit in his family's swimming pool.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite his reputation as a tattletale (and being very proud of it as well), even Randall feels that snitching on someone like King Bob (which the Tylers end up doing) is taking it too far.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Randall teaches the Tylers how to spy on the other students—he succeeds, but the Tylers ultimately become so successful that they end up turning against Randall by snitching on him. The Tylers also end up recruiting the Kindergarteners (which includes the Brittanys, their younger sisters) to help them in their snitching operation to get all the other students sent to The Box.
  • Grade-School C.E.O.: The Tylers (who must be 2nd-graders at the very least) act like yuppies and boast about their various investments.
  • Jerkass Realization: Randall gets this upon realizing that the Tylers have gone rogue with their snitching that caused a lot of trouble in the playground; he even admits to the gang and the Ashleys about recruiting them in the first place.
  • Remember the New Guy?: In addition to each of them having a younger sister Brittany (who were shown in a couple of previous episodes), each of the Ashleys is revealed to have a younger brother named Tyler (who're never seen or mentioned before or after this episode).
