How Come the Moon Has Craters?

The gang wants to learn how and why the moon has craters. Sean thinks that it was hit by asteroids, but Sydney thinks it was colonized by aliens.
  • Bait-and-Switch: What was thought to be the asteroid warning was actually the dinner bell. Immediately afterwards, there's an actual asteroid warning.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: This episode provides an example of Carrot's weirdness. He mows the roof.
  • Humans Through Alien Eyes: Carrot doesn't know why the grass needs mowing. Instead, he has Sunspot eat the grass like a goat.
  • Insert Song: The aptly titled "How Come the Moon Has Craters?"
  • Jump Scare: Mild example — when Sunspot is looking into the telescope, Mindy suddenly pops up and scares Sunspot.
  • Questioning Title?: The episode's title is a question.
  • Nervous Wreck: Sean leaves his prized birthday telescope in Carrot's company, and frets about it throughout the episode.
  • Oh, Crap!: When the gang is about to be hit by an asteroid shower.
  • Rule of Cool: Lampshaded when Sydney says that the gang escaping an asteroid shower will make for an interesting story for Mindy.
  • Shout-Out: Jet says "Thank you, thank you very much" similar to Elvis Presley.
  • Soup Is Medicine: Carrot thought Sean's telescope was cold, so he made it soup.
  • That Reminds Me of a Song: Before singing the episode's Insert Song, Jet says that zero gravity always makes him want to sing.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Even though Sean didn't get to be the first back on the moon, he was still proven right that asteroids cause craters.
  • Title Drop: During the Insert Song.
  • Wasn't That Fun?: Jet actually thinks that running away from an asteroid shower was exciting.

Backyard Moon Base

Sydney leads the gang in building their own moon base...on Earth. Sean has trouble using his imagination.
  • Alliterative Name: The kids' military titles — Major Mindy, General Jet (same sound), and Sergeant Sean.
  • An Aesop:
    • Imagination is powerful and an important tool in science.
    • Just because it's never been done before doesn't mean you can't do it now.
  • Are You Pondering What I'm Pondering?: Jet says this to Sydney when they both get the idea to build a moon base.
  • Dramatic Irony: Mindy isn't aware that the remote causes the Propulsion house to hover.
  • Foreshadowing: It is shown that the remote makes the Propulsion house hover in the air. This is foreshadowing to the reveal that the house is actually a spaceship in "Back to Bortron 7".
  • Imagine Spot: Jet, Sean, and Mindy have imagine spots where they create tools.
  • I've Heard of That — What Is It?: Jet loves Sydney's Commander Cressida idea...then asks who she is.
Mindy: You really aren't from around here, huh Jet?
  • Lack of Imagination: Sean struggles at imagining a moon base and creating gadgets out of mundane objects.
  • Military Rank Names: Sydney gives ranks to the others. This results in Sergeant Sean, Major Mindy, General Jet, and Commander Sydney.
  • Oh, Crap!: Carrot flips out when he sees the house hovering in the air.
  • One of the Kids: At the end of the episode, Carrot plays with the kids.
  • Show Within a Show: Sydney introduces Jet to her favorite franchise, Commander Cressida. She also sings the show's theme song.
  • Space Base: Heroic example — the kids pretend to build their own moon base.
  • Spectacular Spinning: Jet helps build the "base" by using Jet Speed, which is really just rapid spinning.
  • Sugar Bowl: Mindy's imagine spot has her go into a pastel-colored fantasy world.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Sean says "uh-oh" when Jet and Sydney get the moon base idea.
