Ben leaps into Elizabeth Bleaker, a Puritan girl in colonial Massachusetts. When he saves someone’s life with CPR, the townsfolk accuse him of witchcraft and he undergoes a full-blown witch trial.
Tropes:
- Artistic License – Geography: Middleton, Massachusetts is a real place near Salem, but it's not between Salem and Boston; it's in the opposite direction from Salem.
- Burn the Witch!: The magistrate's preferred execution method. Dialogue mentions that witches weren't actually burned in Salem, but this is Middle Towne, and witches are handled bit differently here.Magistrate Bloodborne: Only fire can cleanse this kind of evil!
- Gender Bender: Ben leaps into Elizabeth Bleaker, a young woman.
- Internal Homage: The episode's climax relies on a well-timed rain shower to solve a drought, just like that of "A Single Drop of Rain."
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After seeing that her other horses have been taken by the townsfolk, Morgan decides to flee Middle Towne on her only remaining horse, leaving Goody and Ben behind. She eventually gets caught again anyway.
- Stock Punishment: Ben ends up in the stocks.
